I'm a tattooer. Tattooer of the old ways, it's what I do. Tattoos, on people. Do them clean, do them readable, good lines, lots of nice heavy black shading, good solid color. Nothing special, not every tattoo's gotta change the world, just gotta be done right. You ought to be able to read it from across the street, ought not have to be interpreted, ought to speak for itself. I got my first tattoo at 13 years old in 1986, paid a case of Milwaukee's Best for it. Done my first tattoo a couple weeks later and man was I hooked. Did my first five years learning from any jailhouse tramp I ran into, couple of the fellas I knew could actually do a really nice tattoo. They showed me what they could but in the end it wasn't much. Got my first tattoo shop job at 18, 2500 miles away from home in Louisville, KY. Berry Boulevard, that is. Was showed how to tattoo by the world famous, larger than life guru of tattoo, Tattoo Charlie. I sat on the fat man's lap for 8 years learning what to do and how to do it. I learned more in the first 3 weeks from him than I ever did in 5 years of scratching on my own. I've been running my own tattoo parlor, and I did say parlor, and I do MEAN parlor, since February 1998 and business is good.
I work walk-ins and do a few appointments. Most of what I do is on-the-spot, as-we-speak, get-in-the-chair tattooing. In most cases, not much drawing time is necessary and not more than a few moments' to a half a day's advanced notice is necessary.
