My name is Gianni Dori (aka Johnny D) and I was born in Messina, the 18th of September, 1986. My passion for music starts the same day I was born and it always evolved day by day, year by year.
One of the first ways of entertainment was the "Cantatu", when I was six years old...after that, in every event organized by my school, I was always the first to propose songs and singing contests.
When I was ten, thanks to my father's experience (he loves music too), I started playing guitar. My father teached me the first chords and the basic techniques of this instrument.
I got (thanks to a special gift made by my parents) my first guitar when I was 11. It was an electric guitar. I played this instrument in my first public show in Pagliara, 1995.
Year by year my technique got better, so when I was 17, some guys from Santa Teresa di Riva called me to start a band project, "The Black Orange"...with which I also played in some Messina's theaters and many other concerts in the jonic coast of Sicily. After less than a year, for some problems, the band broke up...it was a bad moment for me, in which I decided to abandon guitar for a while, starting writing some new lyrics, still not recorded.
Apart from writing, going to some discos, I enjoyed the art of mixing tracks, so, my friends Pietro, SpaDaRiO, Ruggi, Davide and I, started to animate musically country parties, birthdays during which I enjoyed using my voice to animate and playing percussions. Soon, thanks to some knowledges and with the help of my friends Dario Spadaro, Gianni Camelia and Giuseppe Bertè (I wanna thanks them), I started to work as vocalist, speaker and percussionist into the major discos of the jonic and tirrenian sicilian coasts. I also had the honour to work in a greek club, during a trip.
I also worked with great deejays like Frank 'O' Moiraghi & Missy Jay, Daniele Tignino, Filix, Squeeze, Helen Brown, Pasqualino, D-Lewis & Lou Bellucci and many more!
