After following Cotton around for years , Cotton asked Deak to drive for him on the east coast tours... February of 1992 Asbury park pressWriter Robert Santelli Reviewed a showat the BerkeleyCarteret Hotel in Asbury Park,New Jersey where Deak and Cotton were two of the Featured harp players. Santelli wrote "Deak jumped into the Audience and ran down the main aisles at least twice , playing his harmonica like a man possessed. Deak later drove for the James Cotton special acoustic trio featuring James Cotton ,Dave Maxwell and Luther Tucker; who was Little Walter's guitar player back in the 60s on the tour Deak learned directly from Cotton; who helped him with his tone on the harp and taught him how to be a band leader "" Now Deak is promoting the CD Gateway to the blues ....At all his show's. And Deak has also done some gigs with the Legend John Primer, And Deak also played Harmonica for the Kilborn Alley Blues Band 2006 & 2007 BMA Nominees during Late Oct To Early Dec of 2008, While Joe Aselin was on break These guy's are straight up Chicago Blues. Deak is also Promoting his newest show's too ........Solo Acoustic ....Deak is Stomping on a Wine Crate with one Foot and the other Foot is playing a Snare Drum With a kick Drum With a Jazz Brush connected to it and Singing and playing Harmonica .......It is such a full sound you wonder where all that music is coming from ....and you look and it's just one man .........just like they did in the 30's and 40's .on the streets of Helena Ark ....where all the guys would play in the streets and cut Heads Deak also won a Blues Competition in Indianola MS and will be recording a live CD during the Summer of 09 .. and also another studio recording with some Big Special Guest's on it summer of 09 So Come and see Deak Soon .......... Deak was invited by Kim Wilson to come up on stage and they both played back and forth together. And that was the day that Kim and Amanda Wilson were married right on the cruise 3 hours before. Guy Davis and Deak played together on the cruise ... in fact when Deak went to Bob Margolins Pro Jam he invited Guy Davis up .. And Guy said I met this guy Deak Harp in the Dining Room. if Deak is out there can he come up too and Bob said ok and Deak came up and they got down and dirty with some old Chicago Blues .. then they called up Ana Popovic & EG Kight and they all played together. It was a Show to see..
