Olutayo est. 1986

Long Island native & Nigerian descendant, 21 year old Olutayo(oh.loo.ty.oh) was born with an innate passion for music and performance. Growing up in the Church he was somewhat of a "hermit" and although a member of the Church's Sunshine Band, he wouldn't display the full extent of his gift until a later age. He recalls, "It was Youth Sunday, and I hadn't prepared anything to present. So as I walked up to the pulpit nervous and shaking someone jokingly shouted "YOU BETTA SING BOY!!" I said to myself "OK!" It was at this time that Olutayo had begun to "get his feet wet," then co-founding and acting as president for Voices of Inspiration a community Youth Choir as well as joining the school's choir and Venettes Cultural Workshop (community performing arts center) to train as a vocalist and dancer. While in VCW, Olutayo excelled in dance, winning numerous awards and appearing on various television shows including BET's 106 & Park, The Today Show, UPN 9 News and winning a slew of competitions as a principle dancer wit VCW as well as a Hip Hop company branched off of VCW. In 2005 Olutayo emerged as a triple threat in his first Off-Broadway Production "Byuioo" a gibberish spin off of Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book." While taking a break from music, Olutayo studied liberal arts at NCC for a year. Shortly after deciding to pursue music full time, in 2007 Olutayo emerged yet again on the Off-Broadway circuit this time however, starring in and choreographing JD Lawrence's "Color Blind." In September Olutayo appeared at the World Famous Apollo Theatre and placed 2nd overall. Now the "quintuple threat"(singer/songwriter/dancer/choreographer/actor) is "in the basement" writing and recording his much anticipated debut album. This young man is a force to be reckoned with. ---
