Urban Tunélls klezmerband

About Me

A dark and stormy night in the very beginning of a new yearthousand, Tor-Petter Aanes experienced what he hadn't - until then - expected in his wildest dreams; he gave birth to a son. And the son's name was Urban Tunéll. In fact, this was actually one of his wildest dreams.
The name followed him into the daylight world, and Urban Tunéll was to be the patron of the klezmer ensemble where Tor-Petter was and still is the singer and pianist.
As little Urban grew, so did his ensemble. In 2004, it reached the form it has today - with Morten Michelsen playing the clarinets, Ole Morten VÃ¥gan giving bottom to the music with his double bass and serbian Jovan Pavlovic adding a balkan flair with his virtuoso handling of the accordeon. In 2006 Stig Rennestraum became drummer in UTK.
2005 Urban Tunélls klezmerband released their debut CD Naked Nigun
2006 Urban Tunélls made their second album Zemer Atik in collaboration with the string trio Ensemble Nord
2007 Upnorth Balkan Beats, Vinyl EP, by DJ Kohib
Urban Tunélls have been touring in Russia, USA, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, on festivals and clubs
Right now we are focusing on our next album with brand new material, a mix on traditional and new tunes.
Spring 2010 we will be touring in Sweden, Denmark, and France.
Urban Tunélls are as close as possible to the original line up and hotter than ever.……..
