Phillip Johnson and Kahlil Littleton began their ministry of music in July 2004. They originally began doing music for the world until one day they harkened unto the voice of God, that He called them out to minister through Gospel Hip-Hop and Worship. Once the decision was made to go gospel the individual names of Lazarus and X-quizit came to life. Lazarus means he who God helps. He adds a strong anointing to the music that they write and he is a true prayer warrior. X-quizit means God’s preciseness. He brings the production & liveliness to the songs. He also focuses on what the youth listen to and then integrates it into the group. The name Real Recognize Real represents the fact that Jesus is real and that real people love Jesus. They also want people to see Jesus in them.They began writing their music under the anointing of the Holy Ghost and the words to their first Album “First Breath†came to life. With little to no recording experience they wrote and produced the entire LP. Their material is mostly choir and inspirationally based because of deep GOSPEL roots. The both of them have been raised in the house of worship since they were conceived. Therefore their lyrics are truly scripturally based and influenced by the Holy Spirit, to provide people with a pathway to victorious living. Much hard work, prayer, and donations from family and friends helped to bring forth the production of First Breath. The CD release concert was performed at Living Faith Christian Center on May 26, 2005. God moved through an awesome alter call in which people left delivered from the inner most issues. This was first time it was seen that this was a group of not just rappers but true Ministers who flow with the Spirit. Lazarus and X-quizit are grateful to their parents for encouraging them to move forward in the ministry that God has called them to.Real Recognize Real has performed live in Portland, Seattle, Tacoma, Salem, and a host of churches and community events. They enjoy spending time with their family, friends, and recreational sports. They enjoy working yearly at the Police Activities League sports camp where urban youth from the ages of 10-17 participate.Their mission is to bring ministry and worship to the genre of gospel hip-hop. To touch youth and young adult alike by encouraging them that they can be delivered and teaching them how to keep their deliverance. To let them know that you can have fun in Christ as well as be diligent. And that the void that’s left in their life from the world can only be filled by God. Real Recognize Real write from the experiences of the things they have seen and lived, then tie them into the Word of God. They have received God’s perspective on everything they’ve been through. This makes their group heartfelt and genuine.
