About Me
“The passion that is instilled within me through music
is the passion that has driven me my whole life “—JP
Multi-talented singer-songwriter, Jennifer Proctor “JP,†is about to take the music industry by storm. A hot, young performer with universal appeal, this pop princess is sure to captivate music fans with her extraordinary voice, words, energy and style. With the passion and ambition to become the next great musical icon and an important role model for young people, JP is an artist to watch.
Inspired by all types of music, JP’s unique sound incorporates pop, hip-hop, Latin, rock, and classical music, and her lyrics and beats are unlike anything ever heard before. She has just completed her debut solo album Get Into the Music!. Produced by west coast music veteran Frankie Peay (Payload Entertainment), the 12 track album also features special guests Kid (Christopher Reid of the multi-platinum group Kid ‘n Play) on the single Get Back and Hugo Ferreira of Tantric on the track Come Away. Additional album highlights include a performance with Hitman (Dr. Dre’s Chronic 2001) and a cover of Madonna’s 80s pop gem Get into the Groove.
Born and raised in southern California, JP has been singing, performing and writing songs for most of her young life. It didn’t take long for her mother to realize her daughter’s extraordinary talent and passion and she enrolled her in singing and acting classes at the age of 4. Soon, she was performing in school and community musicals and traveling to competitions all over California, winning trophy after trophy -- nothing excited this budding performer more.
But, for a young JP, her home life became anything but usual -- abruptly losing her mother at the age of 13. As the eldest of three children, JP took on the most serious role of her life. “I was the one often left responsible to care for my younger brother and sister. I matured fast and opened a part of my heart that many people do not open until they have children of their own.â€
Never losing hope or her drive to perform, JP has always been an inspiration to her family, peers, teachers and close friends. In addition to aggressively pursuing her music career, JP is a bright student who takes her education very seriously. Currently a third year student at the University of Southern California (USC), one of the hardest decisions of her life was to pass on the opportunity to go on tour with an all-girl pop group when she found out she would have to leave school and be tutored on the road.
JP has studied music extensively and has 17 years of vocal coaching in pop, country, opera, classical and musical theater, as well as 14 years of dance instruction. Much of her musical inspiration comes from acclaimed artists such as Justin Timberlake, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera and Madonna.
JP currently resides in Los Angeles and in her spare time enjoys traveling, working out, writing music, spending time with her family and close friends, shopping at LA’s hippest boutiques, finding the latest trends and attending theatre events at local concert halls.
