About Me

Dr. MacArthur is pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church. Following in the steps of his father, Dr. Jack MacArthur, John represents five successive generations of pastors in his family. He is also president of The Master’s College and Seminary and is heard daily on "Grace to You," a nationally syndicated radio broadcast. The Grace to You ministry has distributed more than 10 million audiocassettes of his messages. John is also the author of many books, including The MacArthur New Testament Commentary series, The Gospel According to Jesus, and the newly-released The MacArthur Study Bible. The purest expression of God this side of heaven is the incarnate Word — Jesus Christ. The clearest revelation of God and His Son is His written Word — the Bible. Therefore, Grace Community Church is committed toPraising Jesus Christ Preaching the Word Practicing the Truth Praising. Hebrews 1:3 declares Jesus Christ as the radiance of God's glory, the exact representation of His nature, and the One Who made purification of sins. Therefore, praising Him is at the center of all we do, every time we gather. Exalting our Lord through worshipful music, sacrificial giving, and faithful preaching is our highest expression of thanks and love the One Who saves us.Preaching. The focus of each worship service, Sunday school class, and Bible study is the proclamation of God's matchless Word. It alone is the source of truth concerning the character of God, the nature of man, the way to salvation, and the hope of heaven. Declaring Scripture's truth is our highest privilege as Christ's ambassadors.Practicing. People who have been called away from the power and penalty of sin, and to serving Jesus Christ and His church, are the greatest testimony of God's work. And it is God's Word, energized by His Spirit, that accomplishes His work. Lovingly serving one another and the world around is our highest calling in a world in need of grace.

My Interests

John MacArthur assumed the pastorate of Grace in February 1969. Prior to this, John had been assistant pastor in the church his father led in Burbank; he had also traveled widely as a conference speaker and representative for Talbot Theological Seminary, from which he graduated with honors.During those early days of John's ministry, the church doubled in size every two years. We moved from meeting in the Chapel to the newly built Family Center (now the Gymnasium) in 1971, and from there into the current Worship Center in 1977. Since then, additional buildings for teaching and fellowship use have been erected, filling a campus that never sleeps. Truly, the Lord has blessed us with exceptional growth in terms of both people and ministries.More important than numbers, programs, and structures, however, is the foundation for the spiritual life of Grace Community Church that has been built. This foundation includes sound doctrine, spiritual leadership, and active service. We are convinced that God's legacy of faithfulness to us will continue in the future if we remain faithful to Him and His Word.
