About Me

Thought it was about time I committed some of my thoughts to updating this blurb.
Where to start????
You may have worked out I like my footy and I am a proud supporter of Watford FC. Not much more I can say than that, a huge part in my life. Do wish I could remember the first game I attended sometime in the mid 80’s. Too many sessions in the Red Lion or Highwayman have dimmed my memory somewhat and I decided when moving from Wealdstone to Chelmsford I no longer needed my old programmes. Bad move! Also it didn’t help losing touch with the guys I used to go to games with.
The first two 7” singles I bought all those years ago* from Woolies in Wealdstone High Street probably say something about the spectrum of my musical tastes. 5 Minutes by The Stranglers & The Groove Line by Heatwave, seem to remember they cost 60p each but could be wrong there. The Groove Line is one of my fave tracks and still gets many a listen; you can’t beat that pub piano sound. It still gives me a buzz every time I hear it, hairs standing up on the back of the neck sort of touch. My first foray into the world of 12” singles was Swingin’, Light Of The World, which is another track I still love to bits. Second 12” single was I Love America, Patrick Juvet. The less said about that one the better…..blue vinyl though.
Just had a listen to I Love America as I’ve not heard it for a while and forget what I wrote previously. Yeah it’s well cheesy but still a pretty good disco tune and its part of my past so WTF. The B side is a track called Where Is My Woman, equally cheesy.
Those were the days I seemed to spend most of my spare time in record shops just browsing. Wonderful times!
Early musical influences courtesy of Radio Luxemburg’s Peter Stuyvesant sponsored Top 40 listened to on a radio under the bedclothes. For some strange reason the Marshall Hain song, Dancing In The City, is stuck in my head as a reminder of this era.
I like my rock music as well and guess my brother (3 years older than me) is to thank for this. His record collection went something along the lines of Supertramp, Focus, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Police etc. You get the general idea. My appreciation of more MOR type music came courtesy of bro as well with the likes of The Carpenters & Judie Tzuke being included in his vinyl stash.
More to follow when I get a couple of minutes.
