About Me

I was raised on the Penobscot Reservation in Old Town, Maine. I studied Liberal Arts at UMO briefly before joining the Navy. While in the Navy I lived and worked overseas in Japan for three wonderful years. I visited China, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and also traveled to Australia. War took me to the Persian Gulf where I served honorably aboard the USS Independence. When I returned to the United States I attempted college again before moving on into the work force. I explored a few different jobs before following into my fathers footsteps and joined the fire department. Unlike my father however, I specialized in Wildfire rather then Structural fire fighting. I have been building up my qualifications and am currently working towards my crew boss certification. I began carving at the end of October 2005. It started with deer and moose antlers using a dremel. I put some pictures of my work online, and soon got requests for custom work. Notable pieces are a replica of a metal detector in deer antler that went to a business in Iowa, and a set of Areosmith wings, also in deer antler, that Joe Perry of the band Areosmith received. The Abby Museum in Bar Harbor has a rose in antler that I carved. Recently, I have been working in marble, creating some pieces that can be seen at the Native American Basket Makers Alliance in Old Town, Maine. I really enjoy “freeing” the shapes and figures trapped inside a piece of stone or wood, each one a visual expression of my connection to the land and rivers that makes up my home in the middle of the Penobscot river.

My Interests

I enjoy a good book, love to spend time in the outdoors, and I play on the computer a bit. I also like to peer deep within a rock and release the spirits trapped in it.
