About Me

Free MySpace Layouts by Iron Spider
In the current climate of scenes, stereotypes and conformity choking the very life out of American music, D.I.M. is a much-needed breath of fresh air. Formed in January of 2006, D.I.M. came out of the gate writing genre-busting brutality comprised of odd time signatures, diverse song structures and much-needed creativity. Intense, unapologetically heavy and random-yet memorable, the sound generated a solid buzz before they even took it outside their studio walls, debuting alongside worldwide death metal heroes Unleashed, Krisiun and Belphegor at Station 4 in St. Paul.Unlike so many bands that claim a diverse array of heavy influences, D.I.M. actually puts their money where their mouth is. Equally at home playing alongside hardcore bands, death metal bands, alt metal bands, stoner/doom metal bands and (insert label of your choice here) metal bands, D.I.M. reaches out to fans of all types of brutality with a universal message conveyed not by their own statements, but by the music itself. An approach that may be considered out of place in today's compartmentalized music industry, but then again D.I.M. has just as little regard for industry points as they do scene points.Interestingly enough, D.I.M. has acquired several fans who don't usually listen to heavy music-without compromising the brutality of their sound-due to their unique sense of musicianship and songwriting, along with the contagious ferocity of their live performances.D.I.M. has scrapped their plans to release a 5-song e.p. They are now in the process locating a replacement drummer. Once this is complete, they intend to re-record the five songs along with new ones and issue a full-length album. No release date had been set yet. Once the album is finished and released D.I.M. will begin gigging often in and around the midwest, with scattered random D.I.Y. tours of North and South America...and possibly even overseas.
D.I.M. has no illusions of acceptance by the mainstream music industry-and this suits them just fine. For D.I.M., it will be the quality-not quantity-of records sold that will determine success. D.I.M. is proudly rooted in the metal community but does not, and will not, sound like any other metal band-nor will they engage in the all-to-common practice of snobbery toward those whose dress, mannerisms and c.d. collections differ from theirs. D.I.M. does not wish to isolate themselves from ANY creative endeavors, no matter how different or strange. D.I.M. is about a love for music, particularly heavy music of all styles. D.I.M. does not limit itself to one lyrical subject or theme. This is not a show-This is art. D.I.M. has worked, suffered and remained steadfast for their art and now, D.I.M. is about to share their art with you-ready or not.
D.I.M. is currently seeking independent/D.I.Y. labels and promoters for mutually beneficial arrangements...and fans who appreciate diversity and creativity in heavy music.

Sounds Like: D.I.M."D.I.M. is one of the few bands to deliver hard-hitting in-your-face heavy metal without taking themselves too seriously. Stuck somewhere in the middle of different metal genres, it would be easy to dismiss D.I.M. as lacking direction and focus but this would be a mistake as this is their very purpose - they take only what they want from the heavy metal salad bar and the resulting plateful will melt your face right off!"

"(DIM is true) multiple car wreck metal. There is no other way of putting that fact. They will tear off your limbs and beat you over the head with them."

"Music is about creativity, expression, art and creating a safe place where you can be face to face with your true self. Many will subjugate their creative passion to a desire for scene points, popularity and/or assistance from industry reps with greasy hair and even greasier hands. I know, because I walked that path. I have been in very popular bands regionally that were boring, cliche', unoriginal and at best, only moderately sincere...bands where sucking up to scenesters, getting a record deal and/or "not making waves" were more important than the joy that comes from watching your art manifest in it's true form. While I was limited by the musicians I worked with, I do accept full responsibility for my part in these abominations. Though none of these bands were signed, they did come close and did enjoy a high level of popularity in the midwest region. I have enjoyed the ego boost of playing to packed venues, signing autographs and getting blowjobs from women who didn't even care if I knew their first name or not. Trust me, it is every bit as great as it's hyped up to be...until the day comes where, through some chance occurrence of finding the right people to work with, or some kind of environmental trigger, you discover the pure satisfaction of being an honest-to-god, straight up ARTIST. Those who know this satisfaction, understand. Those who don't have probably rolled their eyes and stopped reading these words. Fuck 'em. I no longer write music (or participate in bands that write music) for those people, or the industry they feed. If I am to experience any kind of fame and/or commercial success as a musician, it will not be by sucking any scene or mainstream industry dick. No, it will be because they paid me for the honor of sucking mine. From now on I want my music to have purpose, credibility and authority. This is why I chose to work with the musicians in D.I.M, past and present-and I thank them for putting me on the right path."
