welllll... nina....who is she? who am i. i ask that question to myself near enough everyday. iv always loved music just like everybody else. its the only thing i have. the only thing iv got to myself. the only thing i feel comfortable with! ever since i was a young girl i would escape to my room away from the household stress, politics, arguing, violence and disputes to listen to some music...from tina turner to the bloody spice girls (obviously not now...well sometimes haaa shameee) infact i still do escape away for some music...except these days i write it instead. i write about real and somtimes imaginary scenarios i experience in my day to day life, it could be love, hate, lust, hurt and even me opening my big fat mouth, then to the little drama my sister is going through. infact its mad because from time to time ill write a song and not actually realise iv writen it about me!when i finished school i stayed on to sixthform with some intention to actually get some grades-i dropped out after a year because i was so sick of learning about things i didnt care about, all i wanted to do was to sing. whilst at sixth form i met a media teacher called les mantock after showing him a little demo of my singing he was interested and we clicked straight away. immediatly he took me to a studio at russel youth club in st'anns. we then set up a project for development for me as an artist with nick stez (a well established music engineer from st'anns.) here iv gained my trade. i picked up the guitar from a little inspiration from nick, and with a 'great deal' of help from nick also i learnt how to write REAL songs. iv been playing the guitar for about 2 years and have been writing songs for about 4 years. i LOVE it. and ill continue to do it intill my dying death---hell i might even play a little song for you at my funeral.coveredground was the (not well thought of name) of the first band i was a part of. it constisted of a piano player, electric guitarist, acoustic rhythm guitariat, a cello player and me the singer. my friends. we made amazing songs and so quickly aswell, its a shame we were all too occupied in creating foundations for our lifestyles. timing was wrong for what we wanted to do at the time e.g some members were still in university, some full time (managerial) roles and so have you. i still intend to work with them in the near future. yayalthough the project with les mantock didnt work out. i had so much fun and took alot of knoledge from what he knew and taught me. thanks to him. xx
i am still working with nick stez and other producers from that studio such as 'elreezy, illmana, nally, crs band and so on' also artists such as 'tempa, razor, jayb, annika, nay nay, shifty spirit, kirk, lee ramsey.... and musicians aswell like beenie, pijin, nick stez, paul sycamore, big trev... and the list goes on and onnnnnnn. big trev has played a huge role in my direction too......(to the shop) ha! he helps so many people do what they want to do with there music and blossoming careers and he has so much respect from me and MANY others because of that, i love u trev.its time to step up my game. i have sooo many songs, most in my head not even on paper yet. i plan to get these down and get them out. because i believe in them, and i see a little glimmer of hope in the distance that some people may understand and believe in them too..... watch this space.
