Miguel was born in 1976 in Lisbon, Portugal. He entered the world of dance music in 1999, starting off by doing some edits and primary mixes and he soon found out that he could create his own productions too.
In 2001 he was invited to play at Mistura Fina bar. Not having the experience in mixing and audience feeling, this was a great opportunity. During the two years there, he quickly managed to improve his skills and play with music in a live form.
Although being a DJ is an important item in his life, his real thrill is production and working directly with music. There are 12 different tones in a music octave. This allows for an infinity in music along with tempo and loudness. Miguel has always found it fascinating about the mathematical side of music. Every 16 beats at 128 BPM play in exactly 7.5 seconds.
Computers are, therefore, an excellent means to making electronic music. You just need to work your math and things will get done in perfection.
After too many unreleased remixes and original productions he decided to release his tracks "Derived" and "Make it Yourself". In February 2003, his first own 12" vinyl record was out. This opened another door in the music industry business: a record label.
In January 2004, together with Pedro Diaz, he created Loop 128 Records, a Portuguese record label focusing on progressive, tribal and hard house. Working together with artists from all over the world, with different sounds has been very challenging and rewarding.
Since then, the label has grown and has been recognized internationally.
Today, DJ Petzi sees music in a totally different way than a few years ago. And he looks into the future, knowing that yet again it will be different.
