"(Art)... rescues us from our self chosen triviality, to which we are so prone. It is like a deep organ note that makes my hair stir and a shiver run through me. I 'pull back' from life, like a camera taking a long shot with a wide angle lens. I quite simply become aware of more reality than before." -Colin Wilson (The Occult)
I had this dream the other night...
I dreamt that I was walking down the street, and I ran into God. Now im not quite sure how I knew it was God, but for some reason I just knew. Upon introducing myself, I thought I'd ask him a question, something I knew many would like to know. I asked "Why are we here? What is the purpose of Life?" After I asked, he looked down, and sorta smiled, as if he had heard that question a million times. He repeated the question, "Why are you here? What is the purpose of Life?" then looked up at me and said, very simply,
"To Live. To breathe, to eat, to sleep, to laugh, to cry, to love, to hate, to feel, to experience. To Live. You are not here for any specific Reason. You are not here to serve any kind of Purpose. You ARE the Reason. You ARE the Purpose. Life itself. To Live. Nothing more,
Nothing less."
"Siddhartha had one single goal-to become empty, to become empty of thirst, desire, dreams, pleasure and sorrow-to let the Self die. No longer to be Self, to experience the peace of an emptied heart, to experience pure thought-that was his goal. When all the Self was conquered and dead, when all passions and desires were silent, then the last must awaken, the innermost of Being that is no longer Self-the great secret!" -Hermann Hesse (Siddhartha)
