...everybody wants to be Six Miles Away!...

About Me

Watch our YouTube video's here.
"Oh, yeah, I was miles away....... Well basically, we're a bunch of jammers who got together to have a good time and we'd like anyone who hears us to have a good time too. You can't have too much fun! How did you get the name? Oh, it came from one of Krabstick's songs "Six Miles Away". We liked the last line "I wanna be six miles away" - so we are Six Miles Away.
What do you play? Anything we can sing like James' Laid, J J Cale's Cocaine and Neil Young's Rockin' In The Free World. (Ed. - Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n' Roll?) Where can we see you? Well, each week we're usually at a Surrey Blues Delta weekday jam or two and we'll get up and play a couple of songs and we play weekend gigs about once a month in pubs in the local area. How would you describe yourselves? Oh, I'll give you the lo-down - we're a lo-fi, lo-tech, lo-rent, lo-life, lo-calorie kinda band who want to give you a great high. What do you want to get out of it? Oh, the usual, hot tea and biscuits, oh, and sick smiles." Some facts about Six Miles Away:On a clear day a polar bear's nose can be seen from six miles away with a pair of binoculars!Marconi once succeeded in lighting an electric lamp six miles away by wireless means! If you sneeze in space you will travel at least six miles away before you have time to get a tissue out of your pocket!

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: This is it!
Band Members: Since we formed in 2006, Six Miles Away have played dozens of gigs, mainly in pubs in the Surrey Blues Delta.

Our gigs have gone down a storm with punters and pubs alike - so much so we have always been asked back! Our wide range of music covers all tastes and ages - there's something for everyone with the odd original thrown in for good measure! 100% reliable, we are known for not taking ourselves too seriously. All we want is everyone to leave at the end of the night with a smile on their face! We also host the Thursday night electric blues/rock jam at the Lion Brewery, Ash once every fifth week - for more details check out www.myspace.com/lionbreweryjamTo find out more about the band, click on the pictures below to go to our own myspace pages.Krabbers - Rhythm Guitar, Lead Vocals

Don Maxwell - Bass, Backing Vocals

Nick Farley - Drums, Vocals?

Dickie Hartt - Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals

Influences:

Just about any music of quality from the last 50 years or so. Covers - miles away from the originals of course and probably a bit raggedy, put together at speed with minimal rehearsal. We're not a tight band - except when we've been drinkin'! Our titles include, some a tad obscure and covering a wide range, by Neil Young, James, The Zutons, Sinatra, Snow Patrol, Gloria Gaynor, Cockney Rebel, Tears for Fears, Wreckless Eric, Louden Wainwright, Allman Bros., Tito & Tarantula, Primal Scream, Nat King Cole, Elvis, Traveling Wilburys, Bob Dylan, The Animals, Cream, Embrace, Beck, The Verve, Bachman Turner Overdrive, David Bowie, Radiohead, Bruce Springstein, The Clash, Green Day, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jet, The Doors, Nirvana, Paul Weller, Tom Petty, The Dandy Warhols, Eddie Cochran, Johnny Cash, The Clash, Buffalo Springfield, Bryan Adams, The Band, The Velvet Underground, JJ Cale, Eddie & The Hot Rods, Icicle Works, Kings of Leon, Jimmy Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, REM, The Flaming Lips and Creedence Clearwater Revival.Sometimes a little off the beaten track, you'll find our music slips well into the C:ountry R:ock A:coustic P:op musical genres! Basically, we like (some say we are...)

Our approach is, let's have a go - if we fall on our faces in the attempt, so be it; what do you expect? - that's jammin'.

Want to book us? Then message us through MySpace. We are keen to play weekend gigs at pubs and clubs up to Twenty-Six Miles Away (Six Miles Away would be a bit low down on the richter scale!) from our spiritual epicentre in Knaphill (near Woking) - we know we can make the earth move for you!"Six Miles Away belt out the hits..." Woking Review"Musical Treat" Staines and Ashford News"...everyone got up to dance. It all went brilliantly." Surrey Advertiser
