MySpace CodesThis was written by Muffin before he succumbed to cancer on October 20, 2006. He was the light of his mommy's life and an undefinable source of strength. Rest in peace my dearest Muffin and be with me always..... "First, there was me. I was first! I'm Muffin and Mom found me in Hondo, Texas. I was hanging out in her parents' backyard and when she came to visit during a break from graduate school, she set her sights on me and named me Muffin. Next thing I knew, I was taking a road trip back to her home where she spoiled me rotten and I loved her like crazy. Problem was I was prone to getting lost outside and one time I did that, she thought for sure that I had gone and gotten myself pregnant. But guess what! The vet informed her that "she is a he and he has been neutered!" So much for her advanced education..... I'm roughly 14 now and I've had a great life with Mom even though she did add brothers and sisters to the brood. I know I'm still her favorite, and even though my life is near the end, I know I'll always be her favorite. We've been through a lot together. My mommy saved me and she says I saved her. Next came Gizmo, back in 1997 when Mom traveled all over the place for her job. She found Gizmo trapped inside a garbage bag on the side of the highway in the middle of a hot August afternoon. Poor thing. He had no hair and this awfully bloated belly at just three weeks of age. Looked like Yoda, if you ask me. So, it became my responsiblity to wake Mom up every two hours to bottle feed the poor guy until he was big enough and healthy enough to eat on his own. Gizmo was like my baby. I cleaned him and nurtured him just like a momma cat would. Yeah, I guess you could say I got a little confused with the "he/she" thing. Blame it on Mom.... Giz is now HUGE! Solid black with an attitude as big as he is. I guess that's understandable when your life starts out in a darn plastic bag..... Paddy O'Kitty joined us just about two years ago. He was three months old and about to be taken to the pound for a hopeful adoption. Mom being the sucker she is, couldn't have that and brought him home instead. Paddy is my favorite, even if he does have a funny sounding fake Irish name. Mom says he was named for our human grandfather who never got to have any sons or grandsons of his own to carry on his name. Whatever Mom! Paddy and I are snuggle buddies and he loves me as much as I love him. The three of us boys were doing just fine on our own until Mom discovered Pet Smart's adoption program. Sigh..... You guessed it. She wanted a girl, and a prissy one at that. Her name is Pinkie and she was three years old when she came to live with us last year. Her first Mom had to go to live in a nursing home, the sign said. Our mom, believing everything she reads, took pity on her and brought her home. She lived under the furniture for the first month, but now she's just too fat and way to sassy to hide. What a diva princess! She hisses and growls at me all the time, but I don't pay her any attention. After all, I was here first! Last, but not least, is Callie the calico. She has funky feet. Toes all over the place!!! Mom says there's a proper term for it, but we all prefer "Funky Feet." We think Callie prefers it too, because she'll come to you when you call her that. She's the lovey dovey type...always on Mom's lap, hugging her and giving kitty kisses. She thinks she's being cute. I think she's just plain annoying. Mom loves me more. I was first! I love Callie too and try to look after her when I'm not feeling too bad. Sombody has to keep the younger generation on the straight and narrow! I should probably tell you that I have advanced cancer that started in my lower jaw. I had surgery to remove the tumor once but there's just nothing else to do but pray. It's okay though. Like I said, I've had a great life living the posh existence as an indoor cat, no longer hunting and foraging for my next meal. I've had gourmet meals served to me at my every whim and plenty of treats in between. Life is good when you're a cat who is loved and I know that no one could ever love me more than my mom."
