Chapter 1. Back in 1992 in a small room above a Chinese restaurant a smiley-faced hard partying collective basked in the warm glow of living in Surrey ( Guildford) the M25 dance capital situated halfway between the clubbing Mecca 's of London and Brighton. After months of travelling to clubs like The Trip and Shoom, then to many outdoor underground parties, it seemed only natural to start a homegrown scene in the heart of town. And so began the Wok. Seven years of monthly and occasional one off parties followed during which time the likes of guest dj’s Graeme Park, Danny Rampling, Andrew Weatherall and Jon Pleased Wimmin graced the turntables to the masses. Word spread fast about the nights and in no time the Wok became a key central event on the south eastern clubbing calender.Chaper 2. After a six year absence the Wok reignited itself again in December 05. Now staged as special one off events, already the likes of Justin Robertson, Rob Da Bank and Rocky & Diesel have returned to to a club night renowned for its vibrant funky friendly social atmosphere. Attendances for the events have shown the WOK to still be at the top of the southern clubbing scene and it is befitting of the quality of the resident Wok dj’s, THE HUCHINSON BROTHERS, JOHNNY LUV and STEVE SOULFIRED who bring their selection of electronic and freestyle beats to the floor for each event.
