About Me
New release out !! Voodoo Down Jump
8 new moLdings by the infamous Danish/German quartet.
Voodoo Down Jump is a kaleidoscopic journey through groovy and dense jungle,
wide open spaces, playful party-zones, revolutionary riots and honest prayers.
Improv meets intricate composition, simple songs meet orchestrated suites and
folklore meets quartertones in a highly original melting pot.
The Voodoo cast containes a wide range of instruments including euphonium
(a small tuba), bass clarinet, piccolo trumpet, bowed cymbals, percussion, guitars,
knobs, a.o. Add curiosity, strong commitment, instrumental skills, spontaneity,
and a warmblooded need for musical prescence and individual freedom. moLd is
about high level group-playing that accomodates expressive “bang for the buck†in
Funkytown as well as heartfelt poetry.
Voodoo Down Jump is the third release from moLd. It is the result of intense
work with the music and a major leap towards an even stronger, clearer and more
organic aproach to the wildgrowing fungus of moLd.

On Voodoo:
“..from a New-Orleans March on acid to Solborgs beautiful closing statement "Prayers" with chrystal chords and delicate hornparts whispering like a breeze on a quiet night .. But more important than the musical virtuosity is a lyrical depth†- Geiger.dk
"moLd is unmistakably in good shape on their 3rd album since the group
very convincingly took on the Danish Jazzscene with the debut"Republic of...". ....more than a gang of young males.. I doubt that Meinberg and Bankes playing has been stronger on CD. moLd is playing a winning hand with a release they can be proud of" Chr. Munch Hansen - Jazzspecial

Information
" There are more ways of being radical, the direct and violent, and the more intersting: To compositionally twist and turn more conventional material.
Rotten in Rødby has a slightly mellow vibe - that relates to the traditional realm of Jazz: Horns, Jazzguitar and percussion en masse.. But beneath the album is haunted by a compositional demon, that can break through anytime.. in the beginning often just with a hint of crookedness in the thematic material - but slowly things willbe more more and more twisted in both barbaric and more cleverly and subtle manners
The album is an even greater listening experience than the debut album. Just as radical but in a more mature and wiser way.

"... Mold's work, stylistically far-flung though it might be, seems perfectly natural... Together, they model an identifiable collective character. The solos are more than competent, certainly, but the individual personalities have less to do with the music's success than the band's commitment to developing an original group sound. "
Chris Kelsey - Jazztimes
JazzD'or 2005:
"You are tossed from hypnotic tensions like the ones in Miles Davis' "In a Silent Way" to Mats Gustafsons rock-energy an onwards to beautiful ballads.... Music that it is thorough and concentrated - the artists make a fabric of nobleness and tales, were the breeze from the horns make one unit.. a brave musical universe. A beautiful Jazz that seeks it's body and soul in the music of today. "
Velibor Colic - Dernieres Nouvelles d'Alsace
"The need to experiment and envent radiates from every single note..
..beautiful grotesques that keep growing.. A significant and brave album that illustrates the energy and will-power of young Danish jazz.."
-Tine Godsk - Danish Radio.

...an excellent release... Wildgrowing & extremely expressive... almost classical purity in Meinbergs interplay with Bankes beautiful clarinet on Solborg's Profet.

**** "...soundscapes filled with melancholy - just lean back and enjoy the ride... discreet and secretive with a glimpse in the corner of the eye that suits the record very well... it's a blast and far out. Mark Solborg has written a large part of the music and is responsible for the cover too; a great Bauhaus-like collage with a liking of electric installations - thanks for that one."
Frederikke Davidsen-Bille, Soundvenue
" .. A very confident and fully developed group achievement.."
Jørgen Siegumfeldt, Jazzcritic, Jazzspecial DK
"Proven on stage: MOLD is among the country's most interesting ensembles within new experimental jazz.. Not many young bands within the young danish scene has acheieved such an outstanding collective identity - where the sum of the music is greater than the individual parts.."
Chr. Munch Hansen, jazzcritic, Information
"..I don't know if I dare label this a masterpiece, but I don't recall a jazz release that in it's beauty and horror both shocked me and moved me this deeply.." ..It is remarkable how originally all nine pieces has been concieved and brought to life."
