Stalemate was born fall of 2005 out of former bands such as Agonize, Straitjacket and Morrigu.
Ex-Straitjacket members Bart, Kris & Kristof were looking for a drummer for quite a while when they met an old friend, Wim. After having decided to quit numerous projects including his main band Morrigu and eager to start a more ambitious band, he agreed to join the alliance.
Unfortunately things didn't work out for Kristof, who decided to leave the band because of musical issues. We wish him the best...
Dirk, ex-Agonize member and long time friend, was asked to pick up the guitar and so a fourth different metal style was added to the rest to be torn apart and reassembled once again to our typical crossover thrashmetalcore.
After performing the new material, it appeared that some parts were too technical to both scream and play at the same time for Bart & Kris, so the quest for a singer had begun.
Few came but things started looking good when Jean and later Geert appeared, although both had to cancel because of lack of time. Finally we got into touch with Steffen. Things went very well and so now Steffen completes the Pentacle of Stalemate as our new singer...

After a long and intense discussion we decided no longer to continue creating music nor performing as Stalemate. Why? Some of us intended another musical horizon... We parted as friends and caress the fine moments we had playing and creating in our own Idaho called Stalemate...
For now...
