I am here for Friends

About Me

Dear Friends!!!
This year, I'll be participating in a very special event called the Breast Cancer 3-Day. In September I'll walk 60 miles over the course of three days with thousands of other women and men. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.
I've agreed to raise at least $2,200 in donations. I know I can raise even more than that, and have set my personal goal at $5,000. So I need your help. Would you please consider making a donation in my name? Keep in mind how far I'm walking - and how hard I'll have to train. You can donate online at http://www.the3day.org/. Just click on Donate Now and search for my personal fundraising page. Or fill out the enclosed donation form and mail it to the address on the form. You can also call 800.996.3DAY to donate over the phone. I would like to reach my fundraising goal by August 1, 2008. If you have any questions you can give me a call or drop me a message in my inbox.
Breast Cancer affected my family when it took the lives of my great-aunt and my great-grandmother. My former Choir teacher was diagnosed in my senior year of High School. Witnessing how fighting for her life affected not only her family, but her students and their parents as well, made me want to get involved with Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
According to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, more than 200,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease. That’s why I’m walking so far. To do something bold about breast cancer, and make it a thing of the past. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me by supporting me in my fundraising efforts. Thank you in advance for your generosity and continued support!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Whetzel

P.S. Only 5 to 10 percent of breast cancers are due to heredity. The majority of women with breast cancer have no known significant family history or other known risk factors. How long has it been since you or your loved one(s) last Mammogram?
