This is the first ever Comedy/Poetry CD recorded by Comedian/Actor/Poet Ray nard. Ray-nard is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. After leaving high school he continued his education at Tennessee State University where he graduated with a degree in Speech Communication and Theatre. After graduating high school Renard continued his education at Tennessee State University where fell in love with the world of theater and graduated with a degree in Speech Communication and Theatre, His previous theatre performances include. A Raisin in the Sun (George/Moving Man), Seven Guitars (Red Carter), Blues for an Alabama Sky (Dr. Sam Thomas) The Piano Lesson (Doaker). Hieroglyphic Graffiti (Seth), Loves Light and Flight (Green/Thug), and Waiting to End Hell (Alvin). While in college Renard began writing his one man show, entitled, “What’s In Your Hand†based on the life of civil rights leader Adam Clayton Powell Jr. which he still performs today for churches and banquets. Renard has just released his first solo Comedy/Poetry album, called, “Cometry†which is available in stores now. He has also been featured as a spoken word artist on Rashad’s Witness to the Truth CD’s Volumes 1-3. His film credits include The Green Mile, The Civil Brand, Drumline, and as a spokesperson for Direct Insurance. After working as an actor Renard learned the true art of performance and was encouraged by many of his friends to attempt stand up comedy, which he currently does around the country As a stand up comedian, Renard has been voted funniest person in Nashville by NashvilleStandUp.com on three different occasions. Renard has performed at Zanies, Gibson’s Showcase, The Bar Car, Atlanta’s Uptown Comedy Corner, Jokes and Notes and Riddles Comedy Clubs both in Chicago. As a comic he has opened and featured shows for T.C. Cope, Foodstamp, Keith Alberstat, Prescott, Krazy Karl, Shawty Shawty, Ian Salmon, Nick Lewis, K-Dubb, Jeff B, Baldhead and, Damon Williams, BLT, Uncle Rail, Dirty South, Arnesto, Sherman Williams, Henry Welch, T-Ray, Preacherman and Tim Northern. Renard’s style is very versatile, he can reach any audience, weather he is telling jokes in the smallest hole in the wall club or he is in a church, he can reach you where ever you are.
