Alexander Grove - Tenor, actor, dancer, has performed for thousands worldwide to Royalty and Presidents. He is first and foremost an opera singer, but is one of the UK's most versatile conservatoire trained young tenors and is therefore able to switch to many different styles, whether it be musicals, opera, barbershop or madrigals. Unlike many of the current crossover artists, Alexander is one of the most comprehensively trained and works in the "serious" side of the business as a soloist on a regular basis both on stage and the concert platform.
Described as "..simply brilliant.." (The Times) and "..electrifying.." (The Guardian) Alexander trained at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and as a chorister at St Paul's Cathedral, London. He has studied in Switzerland with Nicolai Gedda, in Sweden with Sten Sj..stedt and in the UK with many established artists including Colin Iveson, Sir Thomas Allen, Anne Howells, Nigel Douglas and Joseph Ward. Past awards include Peter Moores Foundation and Mario Lanza Foundation Major Scholarships.
Alexander is a regular performer on the international operatic and operetta stages. He has recently returned from gala tours to Croatia, Turkey, Italy, Brazil, Greece, Spain and France and 2006 has seen him on two tours of the UK and 3 festivals all in leading roles, including The Nose, Pytor and Yarishkin in Shostakovich..s The Nose on tour and at Royal Opera House 2 Covent Garden, Prince Ramiro La Cenerentola (Stanley Hall Opera) and cover Alfred Die Fledermaus (Scottish Opera). In 2007 Alexander debuts in Naples, Palermo, Milan, Krakow and Warsaw with the roles of Peter Quint (Turn of the Screw, Britten) and Chevalier (Dialogues des Carmelites, Poulenc) under Jan Latham-Koenig.
Alexander is also a regular on the oratorio and concert platforms both in the UK and abroad. He has performed to capacity crowds of over 50,000 in one week and to Royalty and Presidents worldwide. His performed repertoire covers the majority of the major works and many of the touring and major venues and cathedrals in the UK, including the RFH, QEH, Westminster Abbey, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Bridgewater Hall, The Sage, MEN Arena, Birmingham NIA, Sheffield Hallam Arena, The Point, Dublin, Royal Albert Hall, Barbican and the Belfast Odyssey Arena. Recent performances include oratorio under David Lloyd-Jones, Simon Halsey and the CBSO, Sir David Willcocks, the London Symphony Orchestra and Kent Negano. Notable recitals include numerous performances for the Royal Family, a private performance for President Bush Snr at the White House and as a soloist with Jos.. Carreras under Sir George Solti at the RFH, London. In addition, Alexander has recorded on NMC (world premiere recording of Bawden's The Sailor's Tale, in which he created the role of Nelson) and Hyperion recording labels, at Abbey Road Studios, London and on George Lucas and Steven Spielberg's animated movie 'The Land Before Time'.
Alexander's numerous television appearances include Blue Peter, Clocking Off (BBC), Royal Variety Performance, Songs of Praise, Jim'll fix it, Highway, Coronation Street, At Home with the Braithwaites, Always & Everyone (ITV), Hollyoaks, Brookside and North Square (C4). Theatre and Musical Theatre credits include Orestes The Flies (RNCM), Reverend Hale The Crucible, Roy Away, Ephraim Smooth Wild Oats, Sky Masterson, Guys and Dolls, Charlie Clarke Captain Stirruck (BSC) and Rapunzel's Prince Into the Woods (RNCM).
Alexander is also part of the UK's definitive 3 tenor's ensemble, TENORI (www.tenori.net) with fellow international tenors James Edwards and Mark Chaundy performing at corporate and TENORI-hosted events both in the UK and abroad. Both Alexander and TENORI invest heavily into the educational sector both from a private teaching and public workshop perspective.
