About Me

At the moment I am in Liberia, West Africa. I finally made it. I chose not to take my assignment with the Peace Corps in Mali, and instead joined a small NGO (Ahead International, www.aheadministries.org) as a Project Coordinator. I get to hang out with the most beautiful, dedicated African women and run a micro-loan program to help them economically. That, and I am in charge of the medical clinic we will be running in a town outside the capital city of Monrovia. I think this beats my old desk job in the US by a lot...Oh, and I have my own website www.isupportadriel.com How cool is that? retro layout @ HOT FreeLayouts.com

My Interests

Humanitarian efforts Yoga, Snowboarding, Running, Biking, DOGS!! Law and Order (Yes it's true!), Ultimate Frisbee, Karaoke (I LOVE it!), and Swimming... ok basically anything outdoors. However, I do enjoy curling up on rainy days and watching movies... with popcorn of course.

I'd like to meet:

Old friends that I haven't seen in a while would be fun. I'm not here to meet very many new people, and definitely NOT to meet that "special someone". Sorry, but I'm taken care of in that department!!

Music:

Country girl - not afraid to admit it! I love all music really. Alternative, Raggae, Rap even. Pretty much anything but really heavy metal.

Movies:

Comedies are my favorite - hands down. Dumb and Dumber is my all time favorite. Austin Powers (all of them) next. After that, anything with Jim Carrey is hysterical. Other more serious movies would be Count of Monte Cristo, Gladiator, Mask of Zorro and Pirates of the Carribean.

Television:

I really am addicted to Law and Order. Friends, Sex and the City and The Simpsons are the only other things I watch. My TV doesn't even have the "what's on" channel. D'oh!

Books:

I just started A Continent for the Taking... I'll let you know how it goes. This is Cuba is great so far!! The Healing Wisdom of Africa is a definite must. All Amy Tan books. Gandhi. Ultimate best book ever is Where the Red Fern Grows. I admit I enjoyed the DaVinci Code, but I usually like to read that which inspires me to go out and change the world (in small ways, but hey, who's counting?)...

Heroes:

Gandhi. Anyone who can deny himself the basics is unbelievable. Just like the song says.
