Please bear with me while i figure out how to pimp out this lovely layout.... ..... Lately, I've been reminded that I've done some cool shit that I need to take credit for. I thought I was well known for my triprock project REMILEKU. It was an awesome band. Mellow but heavy with lots of truthful acoustic moments. We had a good 6 or 7 year run, me Chan Booth, Justin Filmer, Clayton Craddock and Shelly Nicole. But some old friends have recently called up the past and confessed that I fist turned them out with my first band The Second Step. We were a ska band with lots of reggae, punk and hardcore influences. We later infused funk and calypso and came up with ...well, a bunch of crap we called ethno-funk. So, I'll start here, because what ever noteritery I had with my second project probably came off the coat tails of my first. In the 80's, The Second Step was at the forefront of the New York Ska Scene. Back in the day before homogeneous "retro" hipsters, there were actually scenes. There was a Mod scene, a rude boy crew, rude girls, punks,teddy boys and girls, dreads, goths, skingirls and skinheads. All preachin' and reachin' for unity, we all hung out together. There were even some confused National Front MF's running around the lower east side getting their dope on Ave B. Those were the days you didn't go past C unless you were gonna cop. To me those were the true days of the underground. Not because dope was an accecptable drug of choice but because those of us who were not satisified with pop culture had to leave home and go look for something that would ultimately define us. The Second Step played with The Boilers, The A Kings, The Toasters, City Beat...It was a time unrivaled. A time of real individuality... But back to the present...I went outside the other night, looked up at the stars, and matched each one with a reason why I love you. Everything was going great but then I ran out of stars...
