London School of Samba

About Me

The London School of Samba (LSS) was the first samba school formed in the UK, in 1984. Today it is a thriving community organisation with more than 200 members. It has gained a reputation as one of Europe's leading samba groups. It performs samba at the highest standard while also maintaining its philosophy of inclusion and education.Carnival is a major part of LSS's year, with preparations taking part all year long for the Notting Hill Carnival in August. The LSS was judged best samba group at Notting Hill 2006 and has been placed in the top ten adult bands at Notting Hill for the last 8 years. The LSS is a charity run by volunteers. All proceeds from performances go towards LSS activities. These include public dance, percussion and costume-making workshops; annual participation in Notting Hill Carnival and outreach projects such as workshops and performances with local schools and charities. The LSS holds public dance and percussion workshops every Sunday evening in Waterloo.
