About Me

In Kenya, we got everything about a year late. When a pirated copy of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' emerged at our flat complex, my sister & I (then 5 & 8) decided throw a 'post-screening' disco. We turned my bed on it's side as the 'dj booth' and made a disco ball out of some unfortunate stuffed animal's head & some tin foil. No one came, but we were quite sure it was a success, just the same. We skinned our knees rollerskating down the hill from the rubbish dump, and then thank God, we got a piano. A used Wurlitzer console. I sat in the back of the pick up truck with it the day we brought it home.
I don't know why I write. I just know that I'm the best version of myself when I'm immersed in music, and I don't know who I would be without it. In my mind, everything can be likened to it. I feel exposed when I share it, yet I am compelled by & towards it. It brings me peace, and it might be in those precious inner moments that the muse - of whom I am ever in search -- has actually found her way inside me, and is speaking to me from within.
(Linnaea performs regularly in and around Nashville. Her song 'Fire on Batten Lane,' co-written with Gary Bunning & Tim Schneider, released by One Mile South, is available in stores nationwide.)
