Mandolin Brothers

About Me

BRIAN HAS DISAPPEARED, NO ONE HAS HEARD FROM HIM IN A YEAR, IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE HE IS PLEASE MESSAGE US.
The mandolin brothers have different parents but have agreed for the purposes of their art to pretend be related. Its clear from their photographs this could never be. Take a look at their photo's and you will see they look completely different but in an effort to convince the world they carry related DNA they each carry a fine mandolin of the style crafted by Orville Gibson a Kalamazoo, Michigan violinmaker who founded the "Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Manufacturing Co., Limited." in 1902.
They like nothing better than hanging around together, two brothers in black, balancing their finely crafted identical expensive mandolins at arms length in casual disregard for their fragile nature. They have even recently perfected the previously lost skill of mandolin levitation, an art form in its own right not seen round these parts in many a long while. When these two masters levitate those two 8 string wonders in unison you know you are in the presence of greatness far in excess of their considerable known talent.
Brother Andy Bole is a guitarist / multi instrumentalist in his own right and has also performed at concerts in Europe and America with members of Fairport Convention, Gong, Blowzabella, The Eleanor Rigby Experience, The Electric Light Orchestra, Dave Stewart and Mike Oldfield and has studied the Hansa Veena with renowned Indian classical musician Barun Kumar Pal.
Brother Brian Bannister is a founder member of The Bushbury Mountain Daredevils, the band that took the folk scene by storm. He has a brother in the music business who looks a bit like him but he doesn’t play mandolin and isn’t good at balancing things.
What unites these two masters of music is their love of this wonderful instrument and the desire to create sweet harmony and joy by combining them in a way that makes us all want to get on board the mandolin train and take a first class ride in the easy chair. As they weave their magical patterns together one can’t help but believe they are indeed siblings wrapping us in brotherly warmth and love.
What kind on music do they play you ask.? Mandolin music of course. Lazy loops overlaid with magical melodies, old tunes, new tunes, old country, new blues, folk for modern folks. With influenes that include Bob Dylan, Ry Cooder, Ronnie Lane, Magma, Beck, and Rory Gallagher this is music for a new age. Two mandolins blending together in a way that is far greater than the sum of their parts. Carefully crafted, their music is overlaid with Brother Banisters agile vocals to create a sound that sends shivers down your backbone and shakes in your kneebone.
Oh yeh…did I mention, they are really good. No really, really good! For real man, for real....CHRIS HALL (SWAMP MUSIC) PAUL McCARTNEY BAND.
