"NO VSTi's" started out a year ago when founder member Dave Appella spent 90% of his student loan on a EMU sampler for no apparent reason. Having not thought things through properly, this forced Dave to try and find new ways of supplementing his income.
A few weeks later, he was selling draw in his local student union, he bumped into Calvin Kleiner who was looking to score. They got chatting and as the evening progressed they discovered they shared a simular passion for dance music. Calvin spoke of his old Atari ST he had and withinin a couple of hours NO VSTi's had rigged the ST and the EMU up together.
As poor stoner students, sample CD's and real instruments where way out of budget and let's face it, the £4.99 for music mags that come with sample CD's on the front is better spent on pot.
Standard midi sounds were not cutting it so they were forced to find different ways of makeing tunes. They recorded their own samples.
The tunes available here are the results. There are NO real instruments on any of these tracks. The only sounds you will hear come from the mouths of Dave and Calvin
NO VSTi's have vowed not to buy any more equipment until they are signed to a major record label, mainly because they can't afford to.
And before you say it, yes... real jobs and haircuts are totally out of the question!
