Filibuster

The folk music group Filibuster consists of four young musicians that met while studying traditional music at the Norwegian Academy of Music: Olav Christer Rossebø (1981) fiddle/mandola/guitar, Erlend Viken (1984) fiddle, Mona Hansen (1976) flute and Mari Skeie Ljones (1982) fiddle.The musicians come from different regions in Norway, and have backgrounds from different musical traditions. Together they create their own musical expression with influences from Celtic, American, Swedish and Norwegian traditional music. They play a mixture of traditional music and their own musical compositions.Filibuster means freebooter or pirate a wayfarer that takes what belongs to others. While the original filibusters pilfered what they wanted on hostile ships, Filibuster simply borrows the music from other traditional music and musicians.
