MINISTRY STATEMENT
My prayer is that through my work, God will be ultimately glorified and the lives of people around the world will be changed undeniably. That the music and vocal arrangements of this CD as well as the passion that builds the foundation of its lyrics will mend souls - penetrating the heart and spirit of man. I hope to reach those in distant lands and to crossover in a way that surpasses all religious boundaries. The music of ¨Gospel Train NC¨ was designed to minister to all people, from all walks of life. To provide a living vein of peace, love, and hope that flows outward to the nations.
BIO- DAVID LEE THOMPSON
Born in Winston Salem N.C. November 12, 1975, I grew up in a Christian home where Gospel music was a constant. Yet it was at the very young age of 3 that it would soon became apparent that I had a very unique musical ability beyond my years- a gift that would one day allow me to evolve into the proud man and musician I am today, taking from a great well of knowledge. At just 3 years old my mother brought me a small keyboard which could only play one note at a time and thus with the stroke of each note, I began learning melodies to simple songs on the radio and in the air of our home and church. I went on to nurture my God given talents; however, growing up I was unable to afford professional lessons. I began to observe and listen to other musicians in the church as well as teach myself through books when made available. Soon I began to turn Mozart's songs into my own original musical compositions to the amazement of many, and by age 10 I regularly played for the church, eventually advancing from the piano to the organ.
Since this time, I have been truly blessed by the many opportunities that God has allowed me to experience throughout the years, thus far in my musical career such as traveling with Raymond Oneil Community Choir; singing on the youth choir of Tabernacle of Faith, with Cassandra McCloud, the daughter of Alonzo McCloud, as the Director; and playing with the Winston Salem/Greensboro Symphony Orchestra. Some of my favorite performances include: Atkins High School class of 1955 50th year class reunion; opening for Kirby Walker of Hezekiah Walker as a child in the Ritz Movie Theater in Winston Salem; "House of Blues", and the Street Scene in the Swamp Fox of South Carolina. I have also played with many churches such as Pnuema Pentecostal (of Faye Duncan Thomas- Shirley Ceasar..s Cousin) in Thomasville; Macedonia T.V.P.H.; Bishop Johnson; and New Direction Movement Cathedral (Essie Mccullough) Winston Salem NC. I have studied jazz with Fred Prevetta of the North Carolina School of the Arts, Keith Byrd, and Demon Carmona also of the North Carolina School of the Arts to help me play Gospel. I am also a current Music major at Winston Salem State University.
Today I have evolved into a keen musician and I am the proud writer of ¨Gospel Train NC¨ my second CD project. As owner of my own independent music company, I also produced my debut CD ¨King David's Mental Wealth¨ which was released in 2006 as a product of Widows Son Publishing. The uniqueness of my most recent work, ¨Gospel Train NC¨, brings a fresh sound of contemporary urban gospel that, this time around, is also a community project - comprised of several artists granting their contribution to the CD. My hope is that the Most High will be glorified and that the messages in my music will bless the hearts of those in need - soothing the souls of people around the globe through the very peace that is embedded in intricacy of the music.
To be in God is to be in Love. For God is Love and Love is God.
