Mammoth Wash

Born and raised in the Imperial Valley so the desert is my backyard....

About Me

NATURE SHOULD BE ENJOYED - NOT DESTROYED
Mammoth Wash profile was created to promote and participate in safe and responsible off-highway four wheel drive activities, and to educate the public on how to properly use and conserve the 'wash'.
The sand dunes provide outstanding opportunities for recreation. Off-highway vehicle activity is permitted on more than two-thirds of the sand dunes, or over 118,000 acres. The three most popular areas are Mammoth Wash at the north end of the dunes, Glamis/ Gecko just south of State Highway 78, and Buttercup Valley just south of Interstate Highway 8 near the Mexican Border.
Littering is prohibited. All trash must be removed from the area upon leaving.
Pack it in-pack it out! Please help keep the sand dunes clean by taking all trash and litter home with you.
We all enjoy having some cold beers and drinks while out at the desert - please try NOT to bring any glass containers and instead opt for plastic.
Be sure to dig out any fire pits you've used. The flat tire or cut foot caused by running over a partially hidden trash pile may be your own.

My Interests

The Mammoth Wash “open” area is the most remote OHV area within the ISDRA due to its northern location within ISDRA. This area is about five miles long and two miles wise and is accessed by the Glamis-Niland gravel county road. Visitation is usually 0 to 5 campers with weekend and holiday visitation maxing out around 40 OHV users.

I'd like to meet:

All off-road clubs who enjoy using the dunes and will help maintain it the way it is so that we can continue to enjoy it. :)

IF YOU'VE GOT PICTURES TAKEN AT MAMMOTH WASH - PLEASE POST THEM ON OUR COMMENTS - WE'D LOVE TO SEE THEM!

Come back and check the site as we will be posting more info. on events such as weekend gatherings at Mammoth Wash, desert clean-up days, and beer & barbecues!

Everyone is welcome!

Heroes:

Those who help keep the desert clean.
