Mars Hill

About Me

The very beginning takes us back 7 years. Eighth grade was especially stigmatic for socially inept guitarist Dustin Dyer when he met the "Wild Thang" Austin Hayes, who introduced Dustin and the visionary who would become Mars Hills original founding member Jason Fugett. They struck a friendship up which progressed into the first collaboration of the three above mentioned parties. Then, as it always does for young freshmen 9th grade changed the landscape of their lives and minds and ultimately drove them apart. The next three years would be the most interesting and defining of their as of yet short existences forging them each into the persons they are today. Until, at the end of this period after many failed separate projects a passing glance containing the subtle words that would suggest the invention of Mars Hill. Jason and Dustin bumped into each other at prom 2008. The events that followed and continue to follow would and will become the stuff of legend. For the first few months everything ran as smoothly as can be expected. Practices went well, inspiration abounded and, eventually Wicker Cabinet Badass-based on the film "Bully" and sure to become a phenomenal cult classic was concieved. But, all things must change. Due to differing musical directions, we lost some members (Matt Prater, Andy Cooper). Starting over from scratch isn't easy after 4 months of hard work and effort disappear down the drain, but the eternally resilient duo was soon hard at it again auditioning and attempting to recruit new members to fill the vacuums created by the weaker half of the band's abandonment. Still reeling from the feelings of betrayal Jason collected his thoughts, settled his anger and worked his ass off to ensure that the band wouldn't lose it's small steadily growing group of followers and that Matt and Andy's spaces would be filled as soon as possible-not an easy feat considering that Andy is a highly skilled drummer and those types of musicians aren't easy to replace-Whilst Dustin worked on a few new tunes to keep the fans mouths watering and their blood pressure blistering high with anticipation. The music is on it's way trust us, we haven't forgotten about you guys and we're working hard to ensure the quality of our art so keep hanging in there. Keep in touch with us by leaving us messages on our profile and don't forget to stop in here periodically for all the current updates!
Everyday is something new, something different. We stand ready to change the face of music for years to come. It's perfect; almost too perfect.
