Head Hits Concrete began a five year reign of terror in 1999, pushing discordant, raw and punishing grindcore right over the edge. This Winnipeg quartet offered a total saturation bombing of sound, from the ferocious paint-peeling screaming, the blast-a-millisecond drum destruction to the barely coherent guitar rhythms and discordant note combinations. In addition to crafting a non-stop wall of sound, HHC's lyrics dealt with a broad range of socio-political issues in a creative and uncompromising manner, far removed from the vile and disgusting clichés of modern hardcore. The band chose to play raw and filthy music, balancing the hyper blasting mayhem with vile disharmonic chords and sounds that bring to mind Gasp, Stretchheads or Dillinger Escape Plan's "Calculating Infinity" era.With the band currently on hiatus, members can presently be found in Kursk, Putrescence, Big Trouble In Little China, Human Garbage. Prague and Archagathus.
