In mid-2003, Texas native MC, A-stranger, was browsing a local record store when he happen to start a conversation of music with two customers. They turned out to be local MCs (Concept & Tyree) who had the same love of music. Later, the three went on the form the most consistent independent hip hop group in the west Texas music scene. 1 Year later, the Architext, with a handful of shows and mixtapes, added experimental producer Rupert to their roster to create a new sound. 2 months into recording a demo, tragedy struck with the sudden loss of Tyree. Not knowing the future of the group, the music came to a standstill. After months of talk, the group decided to keep pushing the shows and mixtapes in Tyree Williams's spirit in mind. The structure of the group's music was always changing to tap into the more soulful roots of hip hop. To capture the essence of soul, friend and Lubbock's Bluesman, Cellus joined the Architexts to create a trinity of lyricism. (A-stranger, Concept, Celly -C) With the NEW addition of tx DJ RAMO the Architext finally have a complete line-up and are ready for exposure. Their 1st album to be released in summer 2007 will showcase the groups collaboration of hip hop, soul, jazz, funk, and experimental break beats. Being that Texas rap was growing, we try to state that we are more "east" influenced in our sound, and half of us live on the west coast. The Architext will release the upcoming Rupert, Ramo, Concept, A-Stranger and Celly-C album S2BT volumes1 and 2 to create a variation of our discography. We are also opening for Atmosphere September 28th at Jakes in the LBK. The show is @9. Keep an eye out on our myspace for more tour dates that are currently being booked in Texas, Cali, and who knows where else.
