Elsinore

Elsinore is a Midwestern band at the end of a transition. After spending 3 years playing Americana/Folk music with an acoustic guitar, hand drums, and an easy-listening state of mind, the band decided to turn up knobs and land comfortably in the indie/art rock genre. Heavy riffs, foot-tapping choruses, and tasteful pop hooks fill in the holes from their Americana deconstruction. They're on track to release a brand new album this year which will put them on the road more of the time. Their music is most commonly compared to Radiohead, Wilco, Spoon, Fleet Foxes, and Arcade Fire. This is a band putting more miles on the van, playing new cities all the time, and sleeping on more and more couches.

"Very excited that Champaign, Illinois’ Elsinore made the trip all the way to the Old Pueblo. They’re friends with Champaign’s Headlights, a band that we’re proud to say performed at one of our TucsonScene SXSW Showcases in Austin this year and played a well-received show at Plush days later. (Incidentally, Elsinore also has TSXSW Showcase act Gentlemen Auction House in their top 5!) Elsinore are yet another act traveling through town this week that play charming, infectious organ-driven indie-pop, similar to ‘70s band Squeeze and even Midwest contemporaries (and another TSXSW group!) "This Champaign foursome have put their time in and emerged as leaders in the local music scene. From the momentum of being named "Best Live Band" at the 2006 Local Music Awards and a solid 2006 LP, Nothing For Design, Elsinore has gained traction and begun to branch outside the Illinois border. Consequently, the band is evolving. With the recent release of lead singer/guitarist Ryan Groff's solo album, the future of Elsinore remains elusive.
