MHARI BAXTER I am currently in 4th year Painting at Edinburgh College of Art. In 2006 I took part in a four month exchange to the Icelandic Academy of Arts in Reykjavik. There are many boundaries, like the ones between our senses, waiting to be knocked down and experienced together. It is important to me to share my ideas with people and incorporate them in my work. ************************************************************ ************************************************************ **** NINA FRASER I am a visual artist who would like to think my art is as simple and delicious as eating candy. Having studied at Edinburgh College of art, I create bright, colourful three dimensional/mixed media art with a strong graphic input. I enjoy creating playful pieces sometimes with an interactive aspect. The larger pieces in this exhibition are taken from an Op-art theme, whereas my drawings are of a more serious nature. I am interested in the social dimension of art having recently worked with young enthusiastic children in art based workshops. ************************************************************ ************************************************************ **** ROBERT POWELL I was born in 1985 and haven’t stopped breathing since. From a very early age I experimented with peculiar forms of visual expression, mostly – after the baby porridge era – in the media of wax crayon and felt-tips. In my art existed a tension between a reverence of the natural world and the urge to defy it with my own creations. The culmination was a giant Encyclopedia that would bring into existence for the reader an entirely new world with cultures, religions, philosophies, art and every other achievement of people and nature. It did not succeed. The torment tore me apart and now I only do pastel studies of my potted plants. ************************************************************ ************************************************************ **** GREG SINCLAIR is a freelance music practitioner currently working for several organisations including Scottish Opera Education, Drake Music Project and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. As a cellist he recently performed with the Curve Foundation dance company and has composed several scores for theatre shows. ************************************************************ ************************************************************ **** JENNA WATT is a freelance performer, performance artist, dramaturge and workshop leader with a special interest in devised theatre and conceptual art. Jenna likes to tell extraordinary stories through her work. She believes theatre and live art should be honest, engaging, beautiful, provocative and interesting to perform. Jenna graduated from QMUC in 2006 having specialised in Contemporary Performance and currently works for several arts organisations including Traverse Theatre, NEAC, Fruitmarket Gallery and with Vanishing Point Theatre Company. ************************************************************ ************************************************************ **** KATY WILSON I start with one idea but inevitably go off at tangents. I find objects which I often select because I’m unsure of their function- that frees me up with the way I use them. I’m interested in how different people react to things they are not familiar with. So I like to make new things which don't give easy answers ************************************************************ ************************************************************ **** MATTHEW VALE Since graduating from painting at Edinburgh College of Art I have focused more on sculptural work and, recently, digital video & photography.
