“There is no such thing as can’t, there is only can’t be bothered”

About Me

..I am the 35-year-old wire editor of the Lethbridge Herald. Previously, I was entertainment editor of a small Northwestern Ontario daily newspaper in Kenora. I originally come from Alberta, though I went to high school on Vancouver Island. I like to keep busy in between designing pages, writing headlines, taking photos and doing newspaper stuff. When I’m not doing that, I’m playing guitar, watching TV, reading, writing songs , plays and working my first novel simultaneously. I always make time for tipping the odd pint or three with friends while listening to great live music. Lately I listen to a lot of blues and folk, but grew up on classic rock. I am also a playwright and actor. I am currently single. I just moved back to Lethbridge, Alberta home of the Pronghorns and my alma mater, the University of Lethbridge.

My Interests

Playing and writing music, playing guitar, bass, mandolin and keyboards, drama, acting, photography, reading, writing, hiking, golf, hockey (Calgary Flames rule), traveling.

I'd like to meet:

Anybody into creating orginal country/rock/ southern rock/blues music. Sweet single girls. Good, honest, real peace-loving folks with creative ideas who aren’t afraid to speak their minds and treat everyone with equal respect.

Music:

A little bit of everything. Mostly independent blues and southern rock style music these days. Ramones, DOA , Subhumans (Vancouver), Nashville Pussy, Social Distortion, the Outlaws, Govt. Mule, Corb Lund Band, Fred Eaglesmith, Lynard Skynard, Buddy Guy, B.B King, the Bottle Rockets, Jupiter Coyote, the Riffbrokers, Jerry Reed, Johnny Cash, Alabama. Check out www.allsouthernrock.com and cdbaby.com.

Movies:

A little bit of everything. Anything that makes me laugh and think. Dogma, Falling Down, Monty Python’s Meaning of Life, Blazing Saddles, Almost Famous, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Life, the original Bedazzled, Elizabeth Hurley’s Bedazzled. Also the Shawshank Redemption. Night at the Museum was excellent. Stranger than Fiction is mindbending. I just saw Ghost Rider, which was a blast.

Television:

Simpsons, old Friends, Quantum Leap, Becker, Cheers, Newsradio. Lately My Name is Earl, The Office, Ghost Whisperer, Jericho, How I Met Your Mother, The Class, Seinfeld, Cold Case, Corner Gas, This Hour has 22 Minutes, Royal Canadian Air Farce, David Letterman.

Books:

Anything by Robert A. Heinlein especially Stranger In A Strange Land and JOB : A Comedy of Justice. All of Spider Robinson’s Callahan stories, Jack Kerouac’s On The Road. JK Rowling’s Harry Potter. Anything by Jack Higgins, Douglas Coupland, Terry Brooks, Piers Anthony, Carl Hiassen. Anything that makes me laugh and think.

Heroes:

Don’t really have any. Heroes inevitably let you down. The worst thing you can do to yourself is compare yourself to others because there will always be someone who is bigger, faster, smarter and stronger, so all you can do is be the best you, you can be. Treat each other with repect and decency.
