I'd like to meet:
Either Your In or Your Out
People with good hearts and good intentions are welcome here. It doesnt matter if your covered in tattoos and can fight your way out of a crowd with a wallet chain, or if you are delicate and spend Friday afternoon being pampered in a day spa.
Guess What? Your Invited!
I am not a racist, a sexist or homophobic, although all types of people in the past have been known to test my limits. Anyone and everyone who has seen something on my page or something about me that interests, intrigues or educates can feel free to be added. I only ask that you leave any hostile misspent aggression at the door. This is the place on the Internet where I come to relax, update my design journal and digital scrapbook and post random philosophical ideas. My only major requests are:
Please dont make me miserable policing the posts below, although you are free to say or express whatever you like.
And please make any video or audio files you decide to load as small as possible. I want to give people with slower connections the ability to access the page.
.
The Usual Suspects
Included in my top groups would be the Usual Suspects, including: Fashion Designers and Student Designers, Dressmakers and Tailors, Models, Photographers and Assistant Photographers, Studio Owners, Hair and Makeup, Stylists, Fashion Journalists and E-zine Publishers, Illustrators, Painters, Graphic Artists, Day Spa Owners Operators and Employees, Filmmakers and Editors, Animators and Special Effects Enthusiasts, Electronic Musicians, Art Gallery Owners and Curators, Glass Artists and Artistic Welders, Accessory and Jewelry Designers, Party Promoters and Party Girls. MySpace Fashion and Art Group Leaders. When I have a chance to drop-in on New York, Jay McCaroll and Parker Posey. You get the Idea.
.
Six Degrees of Separation
Ideally Id like to make long-term acquaintances all over western and central Europe, Japan and of course the United States and Canada. The type of people who would be interested in keeping me in their rolodexes and keeping touch over three or four years. Not a deep and meaningful relationship, but someone who would be interested in dropping a line a half dozen times a year just to see whats been going on.
I am less interested in thousands of superficial relationships with a lifespan of 90 days or less. As long as MySpace exists for the next three years Im committed to sticking around and seeing who comes and who goes as an experiment. My only concern is in not wanting to turn my studio or my home into a motel or bus depot for MySpace users down on their luck.
I am not opposed to ambitious users who want to build their online networks, or people who want to learn about how to sew a perfect pocket, because I am sure that hundreds and thousands will come and go over that period of time.
I would just like to separate the 90 day flakes from the long term arts and entertainment community the best that I can. It would be a shame to get to know bits and pieces about someone over the course of three or four years and have them just disappear one day never to be heard from again.
Some of the people on MySpace I am sure Ill see at a venue some day out on tour or at a gallery opening in Chicago or Cologne or Tokyo. That is obvious by some of the profiles. But I also do not want to pre judge each and every person. I Hope to see you here in the future. Its kind of like the feeling I get when I see Roger Miret or Vinnie Stigma each two or three years, I brings back memories of good times and good friends some are here and some are gone, more than anything it creates more quality memories for the future.
Practical Patron of the Arts
If you have read through some of my interests, spoken to me through an e-mail or even crossed paths midtown, you know that I have an interest in art and artists. Painters and sculptors have a particular reserved parking place in my heart.
If you are an artist and work in the mediums of acrylic or oil paints, I might be interested in learning more about what inspires you to create, though as a simple rule, I am interested in the person as much or more than I am the artwork itself.
I do believe in rotating paintings and sculpts with the seasons or a mood or occasion, however I do not believe in permanent storage of someone’s creative expression.
Let’s be realistic, however, living in one of America’s top ten major metropolitan cities, the amount of space any one person has comes at a premium, and as an artist with a studio space (no matter how compact) devoted to creating your artwork, you understand how limited wall and floor space can be as well as I understand how limited closet space can be.
All invitations to gallery openings, group exhibits and promotional materials are appreciated, however, giant sized images files, the overloading of my home page and random Spam is not.
I believe that artists will understand the intent of my experimental art / design (fashion) project a little better than any other group of people.
If something you see, one of the design challenges or one of the photo journal shots catches your eye and you are interested in learning more or have thought about trading with me, I will consider all conversations, requests and offers as soon as I have free time from the studio and workshop.
.
My Friends
Many people are probably wondering why it is that we have introduced ouselves and stay in contact through e-mails but haven't added each other to our friends list.
Even though I have been a part of MySpace since the begining of 2005 and have enjoyed my time here, I have been busy in my studio and my workshop, and I haven't had the time to dedicate towards updating my MySpace page until the Christmas Vacation interim. In the New Year I will be available on a more regular basis. What does that have to do with the friends list?
The first ten people on my Friends List are reserved for people that I remember from my High School and Neighborhood, fashion designers and artists that were supportive along the way and other individuals that are in some way special or memorable to me. These are the people you could find in my private address book or PDA.
After adding my first group of people I have a list of e-mails and contacts of people I have had fun speaking with or that have so much personality that they have somehow stood out from the crowd, and I will be contacting you as soon as possible.
My good friend Tom will have to do for now...
