Taken from www.i-bands.net:The story begins when Jack (of the beanstalk fame) came down from the sky to chop down the beanstalk as the giant was trying to catch him. Jack knew he was in trouble. Using his telepathic ability he summoned the great Gandalf (LOTR fame) to help him. With his long white beard he managed to tie the giants leg but much he didnt knew that his beard was falling and he was to old to handle the mighty superior giant. Alas the giant managed to stop the great Gandalf from killing him. As the giant was still descending down the beanstalk, came 4 knights in shining armour originated from the Mount of Kinikituhua of LalooLand, fought the giant using only guitars n drumsticks and killed the giant with their magical power and superior strength. And so the great giant was put to rest forever....after that, the 4 knights decided to settle down, formed a band and was on a journey to make rock n roll history!!! and they lived happily ever after...Ok..ok....enough of the intro..We are The Coffeeshop, a four piece band from Kuala Lumpur. We started back in 1999 but only in 2002 that we have a proper lineup that consist of the present lineup. Originally school friends and childhood friends, our musical history started way back in 1996 (we were 12!!) when Syukri and Iedil played together for Xiphirstenum. Due to other commitment (studies and malas kut) the band decided not to go on. After meeting Izairi in 1998, together with Yus, Abang they formed the band Mable's Table and managed to record a demo cassette. Fast forward to 2002, after having some line up changes, we hooked up with childhood friend, Daniel to complete the present lineup. After having performed at various gigs and proms, we decided to record an EP - Spilled Coffee (2002) featuring 6 songs which were bedroom recording using Cakewalk application. The EP was reviewed by KLUE (issue 20-something). The desire to create new songs and love for the music, we decided to record our second EP in September 2003 and was released in October 2003. The EP- Clean Sounds In Distortion (2003) was recorded in Shah Alam and featured 8 tracks including a bonus hidden track. Currently our band is on a long break as everyone is like everywhere....Strawberry fields forever..
