Burgundy Bloom is an Amsterdam based singer/songwriter. His music is not easy to define. The piano paints a, sometimes almost classical-impressionistic, musical landscape and lays a solid foundation for Burgundy Bloom’s emotional and haunting voice, his intriguing lyrics complete the whole.Burgundy Bloom has been playing classical piano since the age of 12. At 16 he discovered composing and soon his first classical piece saw the light of day. For several years he only wrote classical music. Only after turning 23 he became interested in, and fully aware of, the beauty of pop music.A whole new world revealed itself to him, which he gratefully discovered. He joined The Emerald Tablet as a keyboard player and wrote several songs for the band. Although the songs were genuine pop songs, the structure, the melodic weaving and the use of themes disclosed his legacy. After The Emerald Tablet split up, he founded November together with guitarist Stef Kohler. Their music was rich, dark and at times quite complex.After a few years Burgundy Bloom formed, together with fellow November members singer Jos Duijst and Stef Kohler, the acoustic band Day is Done. The desire to play more acoustically and in a smaller setting got them to do so. Day is Done made a full length album by the name of Eventide.After both November and Day is Done fell apart in 2006, Burgundy Bloom decided to continue his musical path as a singer/songwriter. As he always wrote songs to be sung by others, this time he made use of his own voice. Although classical influences are unmistakably a part of Burgundy Bloom’s music, the songs still remain pure, warm-blooded pop songs.
