I began my musical journey by playing the trumpet in elementary and Jr. high school. By the seventh grade I switched over to the Tuba, due to the fact that everyone else played the trumpet also. That's where I started and learned to love the foundation of the bass and how important it was to music. I continued my musical journey in high school with the popular 80's go-go band Ayre Rayde. I am one of the founding fathers of the Ayre Rayde Band. We played in and around the Washington, DC area for about 10 years. That is where I learned the essence of funk and the importance of locking the groove with the drummer. I am currently holding down the bottom end with my band Phaze II. A contemporary jazz band that has been holding it down here in the Washington, DC area for over ten years. Phaze II was chosen the winners of the 2005 Capital Jazz Challenge. Held at the 13th Annual Capital Jazz Festival. One of the largest contemporary jazz festivals in the country. I am also the bassist at Victory Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA and St. Matthews Baptist Church in Washington, DC. I am also the bassist for the Archdioces Gospel Mass Choir of Washington, DC. I have had the priviledge of working with other such talented musicians as: Soundproof, Ken Staton, Rob Maletick, K S O, Yvonne Johnson, Youthful Spirits, Devine Messengers, The JWRM Project, The Men for Christ, Keith Killgo, Corinthia Cromwell, Tyris, Vince Chapman, Greg Byrd, Glen Douglass, Ricky Wellman, Rob T, Dwight McNair, Mariam Wright, Sha' Summerlin, The J D Experience, Kelly Fox, Marvis Moore & MCBC Mass Choir, Susan Summers, Groove Selective, Michael"Funky Ned"Neal, the late Sam Smith and countless others. I would like to thank my parents Elbert & Mary Norton for all of your love and support. But most of all I thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with the priviledge and the ability to make the beautiful sound of music.
