Versatile trumpeter Brent Madsen is an active jazz, commercial, chamber, orchestral and solo performer as well as an educator. He is a founding member of NYC-based Lungcore groups, Jerseyband and Heart of Barf, as well as the Jerseyband HORNS. In the MD/DC-area Brent works with groups such as Turn Around Norman, the Brad Linde Ensemble, the Ben Bokor Quintet and the Dave Tucker-John Blount Big Band. Recently, he has also performed in various musicals including A Chorus Line, West Side Story and A Year With Frog & Toad.
Brent maintains a private studio of trumpet students in addition to teaching at the Ellicott City Music & Arts Center. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Performance from the Eastman School of Music and a Master's Degree in Classical Trumpet Performance from the University of Maryland. He is currently working towards a Doctoral Degree in Trumpet at the University of Maryland. Brent has studied with Chris Gekker, Ralph Alessi, Clay Jenkins, Harold Danko, Luis Loubriel and Wynton Marsalis.
In addition to five Jerseyband CD releases, Brent can also be heard on Steve Reich's Nonesuch Records release, "Triple Quartet, Music for a Large Ensemble, Electric Guitar Phase."
ABOUT THE MUSIC:
BLE Mix is a few clips taken from a live performance of the Brad Linde Ensemble from February 2009 at Blues Alley in DC.
