J - Sun

About Me

J-Sun (born Marcus Jones) is the phenom from the heart of the 46 Zone (AKA Tuskegee, Alabama). With more than 10 years of experience, a full-length CD set to drop, and many guest appearances on NME releases, J-Sun makes everyone - even his own crew - nervous. There is just something unsettling about the power he wields on the microphone.
J-Sun's rhyming pattern is a well-woven tapestry of beats and lyrics constructed from a strong thread that is the basis of his life, as well as his work. That thread consists of strong fibers. Each fiber is a trait that is important to the quality of his product and the quality of his life:
Ferocity. J-Sun is moved to tears by very few things. Most of those things can be tied to the Black American males plight being held down. Thats why he fights so hard in the rap game. With intense conviction, J-Sun declares, I get up every morning ready to fight, and sometimes I wake up swinging. I shouldnt have been sleeping anyway. They push me down, I get up, and I PUSH BACK!
Fearlessness. Now, J-Sun will admit that he has fears. However, he is only truly scared of one thing waking up one day without the nuts to face his fears. I feel like its okay to be scared, J-Sun remarked during a recent interview. Fear is often a common sense response. Courage is overcoming fear that holds you back.
Family. To J-Sun, family equals love equals pride equals loyalty equals security equals everything. If the time ever comes when he feels that his family is not worth talking about, he will stop talking, and there will be no more J-Sun.
Fatherhood. Now a self-described Daddy's Boy, J-Sun admittedly spent much of his early adult life at odds with his dad. Love is a hard fight, J-Sun declares with an emotional shakiness in his voice, and I'm not meaning a fistfight. But believe me, no fistfight I have ever been in hurt me as bad as some of the things we went through bringing me up. We - I mean me and my daddy - fought and beat down all the bad in me that we could. I hope the result is a good man. I'm not sure yet. We'll see, because I have my own little man [and girl] to raise. I once heard that when you can teach a lesson, you have truly learned it. Well, class is in session.
J-Sun is fully supported in the struggle by the NME Alliance. They kick a** and really do not give a fu** about taking your name. Be on the lookout for that new J-Sun joint and get that. Because if you do not stand with J-Sun -well, you figure it out!
