About Me

Steve Pope
Began my playing career in 1990 whilst at Craigslea State High. Bashing on cardboard boxes and Milo tin lids with my mates was how it all began. 'Born to be Wild' was the first song we played if I recall correctly. Thankfully, things progressed from there!
In 1992 I Joined Brisbane 5 piece rock band 'Bulldozer' and went on to record 4 EP's with the band. Bulldozer toured up and down the East Coast, played the Big Day Out 1996 and Livid Festival 1997. During my time with Bulldozer I met and played with some amazing musicians and bands: Pangaea, Zooerastia, Eat, Precision Oiler, Surya to name a few.
I began teaching at Billy Hyde Drumworx in Brisbane in 1998 and still continue to teach there - currenlty teaching approx 50 students per week. Began working the covers circuit in 1998 performing with such cleverly named bands as: 'Blah, Blah, Blah', 'Loose', 'Moonbelly', 'Rastafarian Stagedivers' and 'Dr Bombay'. Continued to work with originals band 'The Full Colour' during this time. Completed a Bachelor of Music at the QLD Conservatorium in 2001 and went on to teach at the Bachelor of Popular Music at the Gold Coast Conservatorium Campus.
Currently my two main original projects are: 'Transport' and the 'Kate Miller-Heidke' band. Transport has released two EP's - 'Safe No Rebounds' in 2004 and their Self Titled EP featuring 'Sunday Driver' in 2005. Transport have recorded their debut album 'The Inner Chimp' in 2007 and the album is currently available in both download and hard copy form from the bands myspace page. In 2007, Transport completed a 20 date tour of the UK and showcased at Musexpo in Los Angeles. Kate Miller-Heidke has released two EP's - 'Telegram' EP featuring 'Space They Cannot Touch' and 'Circular Breathing' EP featuring 'Apartment'. Kate's Debut album 'Little Eve', which features the first single 'Words', was released in July 2007 and debuted at number 11 on the ARIA charts. 'Little Eve' has achieved gold sales status in Australia as well as 5 ARIA nominations for the 2007 ARIA Awards. Steve's touring with Kate has seen him perform live at the 2007 ARIA Awards, Vodaphone's Live at the Chapel, Channel 7's 'Sunrise', Channel 7's 'The Morning Show', ABC TV's 'The Sideshow', Channel V's Playroom Sessions, Channel 10's Video Hits as well as multiple national tours of Australia. Kate's new album 'Curiouser' was recorded in LA at Sound City Studios with producer Mickey Petralia. 'Curiouser' was released in late 2008 and made it's debut on the ARIA charts at number 8, with the first single 'Can't Shake It' making it into the top 40 on the Australian singles charts. Expect to see Kate and band touring nationally across 2009 to support the release of 'Curiouser'. Check both bands Myspace pages for more info!
