It has been 8 years since my last solo release and 6 years since my last release in general, so here goes. Since the demise of LAPd I’ve experimented with management and produced a few records (for other people). I’ve also gone into partnership with my dear friend Jarolaw Wyka, in a recording studio in Krakow. It is here that I have found the peace of mind and peace in general to actually contemplate such a massive project, let alone finish it. I’ve spent many late nights and early mornings to finish these songs. I’ve recorded different versions of each song and re mastered so many more before being happy to present them here to you the listener. I hope these songs will bring you a doorway to my thoughts, views and life.
The musicians involved in these recordings are the best of the best and gave their heart and souls to these songs. The recordings work because of the people involved and their professionalism and ability to translate notes, words and music into the magic that a song should be. I thank each and every one of them for their dilligence and indeed patients at times.
WHAT IT WAS
This recording sees me revisiting some old songs from previous projects that I was never fully happy with and starting from scratch. Four of the tunes come from my first solo CD ‘Huma Suma Baby’ back in ’96. I was never happy with the finished product at the time but was about to go on an extensive tour for the next eighteen months so I just lived with it. The other four comprise of one from my pre solo days ‘Gonna’ be alright’, two from ‘Blocked In Would’ (99) and one from ‘Digital Honesty’(98).
I loved all these CD’s but these few songs have always cried out to be redone and now they are. I hope that you enjoy them now as I do, fresh, vibrant and living as they shoud.
WHAT IT IS
This is a collection of new songs which I’ve written over the last few years here in Poland. They are about living and being here during these few years. It contains songs that I’ve written for and about my family and the woman I love, some about the political situation in the world today, the George W. Bush situation, the previous neo-fascist regime that was in power in Poland until recent elections brought a more tolerant government and other matters pertaining to Polish daily life. This wonderful country that I call home has been good to me and it was easy to write these tunes in this environment. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
8 UNFINISHED SONGS
This release has been the most long awaited. Me personally, a very long time, We started this record in the summer of 2003 in Niepolomice, near Krakow at BB Records. We were there for nearly four weeks and recorded these songs many times. In my opinion we absolutley nailed it the first time but because of old guitar strings and drum heads, it was discarded. A real shame. So that brings us to................................ At last the second never released LAPd record. Originally entitled ‘Rodney King’ this record was shelved along with the band when Pawel Maciwoda left to join ‘The Scorpions’ now with Artur and Liam hooking up again this record is finally being released in it’s original form but a different name, ‘8 Unfinished Songs’ describes it perfectly. This was recorded at a few places. The drums where recorded in a small studio in Nowa Huta (an area of Krakow) and then the vocals, guitars and bass where recorded in MDK (one thousand years) with the help of Marcin Baran in 2006 and has been lying in the can until now. These eight songs are all known by the legions of LAPd fans as they where in the live set so a lot of very happy people will finally have copies of the songs that they danced and partied too in those bygone days. I’m also very happy to finally get it finished and out there. Enjoy.
Influences: Influences would include classic Soul, old rock'n'roll, old AC/DC, stones ect. Reggae and old blues.... Good honest, emotionally driven, earthy music.
