About Me

break.morning is a two piece acoustic band featuring Joshua Borke on percussion, and Joshua Tarp on guitars, keyboards, and vocals. They have been playing together for several years now, although nothing serious had come of it. Josh Tarp recently started recording some of his originals, and though Josh Borke helped record and produce it, they were hesitant to be called a band because of the uncertainty of the future. They decided to go for it anyway, and break.morning's first album is available now. The debut album is an album using acoustic originals by Tarp and Borke. Some of the songs are a reflection of the road through life and salvation. The song "Running" summarizes our fallen state with the words "I know that I never had the will, the desire to do good/ To get me to my destination someone has to pay/ I know I'm somewhere on the wrong side of a line drawn with blood/ from here it looks like mine and I'm afraid of what that means", but break.morning comes back with the comforting words "My love/ is enough/ to make you leave the place I hate/ and hate the place you leave" in the song "The Ugliness". A key verse that the band uses is Philippians 1:21, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." The album started out being a concept album, but due to some issues that arose, it is not. Here is the new track listing for the album:01. Intro 02. Too Far (new version) 03. Breaking Hearts 04. Running (full version) 05. Up Against 06. Caedmon's Hymn 07. Akeldama 08. The Other Seventeen Years 09. Outro Due to some issues that have arisen break.morning will be taking a hiatus from the studio, but we will keep the site updated. Please support us by buying our album and by posting break.morning banners on your page.****************************************************** Why? Why market this all-around, no-nonsense, kick-in-the-derriere acoustic album? In a word – the fans. For years, on Friday afternoons, old pal Tarpie and I created this musical concoction for the random spider and the occasional mouse. The acclaim was deafening, the encore requests staggering. This year, they chained us to the soundboard until we brewed up five acoustic originals – prisoners of our own excellence. Enough, we said! Let’s go public! We’re out of the basement and onto the shelves! Click on the Alpha Omega News banner below to read a review of our albumTo Write Love On Her Arms - Intro

Band Members: Josh Tarp: Piano/Guitar/Vocals/Bass Josh Borke: Percussion/Ukulele/Keys/Bass
Influences: As a band, we are influenced by almost all music. We try to integrate musicianship, of any genre into our songs. As a songwriter, I (Joshua Tarp) was most influenced by a musician named Matthew Simon Hoffland. An excellent musician and even better man, he has taught me more about where my heart should be while I make music then where my fingers should be on the fretboard of a guitar. I have always been and continue to be awed and influenced by the musicianship and songwriting of Matthew Thiesen of Relient K, who I believe is one of the all time greatest songwriters.
Sounds Like: The one band that comes to mind is Jars of Clay, if you take our work as a whole, and not just what we have on the site.

I like being a musician

You know, it is such a great thing to be able to put feelings into words, but even better to add music that tells the world just how you feel, I might write a song with a trudging pace, a slow depress...
