don't quit your day job

About Me

just a girl with artistic tendencies and a streak of business smarts. usually the first thing people notice about me is my father's eyes (beautiful) and my amazingly long fingers (and, um, toes... also my father's). side-note: if someone comes up to me one more time and ask if i play the piano, i think i'm going to lose it! i know several musicians, and yes, if i can squeeze piano or even guitar lessons into my day, i'll do it! wow, that was a bit of my crazy streak coming thru, which leads to my personality... i have a short attention span and a healthy appetite, which means i often get annoyed and cranky when i'm bored or hungry. i'm stubborn, very opinionated & oddly intimidating (so i've been told, but don't know why). don't let this fool you though, i'm quite a geek and once you know me you realize i'm a good listener and a loyal friend. like most kids of recent generations i come from a broken home and was raised latch-key with a tv babysitter. surprise, surprise... i battled a few demons in my pre-teen & teen years. yeah, you know you have problems when you're 15 and a psychiatrist offers you pills. this may sound cliche, but this never intensified into a destructive path thanks to my much younger half-siblings and swimming... these two things held me together during the worst times in my life. a few tidbits: i prefer sports bars and pubs... i can't stand clubs and the awkwardness of too many unwanted advances (song intro: "you can't block them out, you can't walk away, try desperately to think of the politest way to say: 'just get out my face, just leave me alone...'"). i enjoy sports, especially basketball and mixed martial arts. (gee, i wonder why i have so many guy friends?) i have a bad childish habit that i never intend to break... i twirl my hair. i have aspirations of one day becoming an artist or starting my own business and traveling the world with my family. one last thing... i'm a firm believer that opposites attract. i feel relationships are far healthier and passionate when you find someone who challenges you and you challenge them! thank you colin for teaching me to let go and live life. i can't wait to see where our journey goes from here! p.s. always remember... don't guit your day job... it's just temporary til you find your path to your dream.

My Interests

i'm obsessed with good food and drink, especially spicy food & gelato (a must when you visit Phoenix: Nina's Tutti Santi & Richardson's New Mexican Cuisine). can't live without music and art - once was a painter, and maybe again someday soon. other passions include: architecture, design, graffiti murals, traveling, politics... may be i should change my career and work for the Travel Channel!

I'd like to meet:

anyone... as long as they're not mean or ignorant!

Books:

I have a very short attention span... usually I'll start a book and never finish it. The most recent book is - Guns, Germs and Steel - by Jared Diamond (chapter 2). For natural progression, I have to finish it because I would really like to read - Collapse - by Jared Diamond.

Heroes:

My late Bohemian Great Grandmother, Helen (1908-2004)... the story of her life, both joys and sorrows, are anything short of amazing and heroic! The women in my family... nearly all of them have had their own business - independence! My step-brothers (John & Jay) for never letting go of the things they're passionate about... music, film & family. Also, my mother-in-law - she knows what I'm going through with learning to balance my career and family life... and aunt-in-law former U.S. Ambassador to Malawi, Africa - she is empowering!
