About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 ************************************************************ ******* ************************************************************ ******* I never learned to use a pick, so I use the mighty EMG David Gilmour signature series active pickups (DG-20's) in my Strat, and prefer to play it through a solid-state David Hafler 200 Watt amp into regular cone fives and Lineaum Tweeters. For acoustic business, I have an all-black Martin 000-CXAE. For live looping its a Boss RC-2 and DD6 for delay. And I like what Digitech can do when it comes to an on-the-floor processor. But gear is neither here nor there. Someone once asked Steve Cropper what his ultimate guitar rig would be. He said something to the tune of "a nice tele and that Fender amp - the one with the red knobs." I like writing songs based on novels (Thomas Mann, Marquez) or about obscure personalities from the past -and like Warren Zevon- to use macabre humor to tell stories pop radio would never tell. I just finished a song about Philo Farnsworth, the Mormon farmer who invented TV. He ended up disapproving of his own invention, and wouldn't let his kids watch. He only felt like TV was worth anything when he witnessed the live televised moon landing shortly before his death. He only appeared on TV once, when he stumped the contestants on a 50's game show who couln't guess why he was famous. So they gave him $70 and a carton of Chesterfields. Songs like that have a tendency to write themselves. ************************************************************ ******* co-conspirators over the years: Chris Rummel, Alec Tabak, Graham Moore, Katie Wall, Richard Famerie, Janis Klavins, Andris Barshney, Roach Iliashevsky, Deborah Umunnabuike, Sedge, Charlie and Makeen Muardi'jb, Steve Gilpin and Erik Cameron
