Variety has been the spice of my life. I have tried a lot of things and experienced many things. At different times of what I believe to be a rich life, although not without my share of disappointments by myself and by others, I have been passionate about hot rods and custom cars, sailboat racing, sports car racing (but not in a major way), skiing, hockey, scuba diving, piloting small aircraft, some of these things I will either pursue again or continue participation. ----------------------- Not until I took up motorcycle riding did I really find an activity that was heads above the others. I love having my face in the wind for the whole day. Tavern to tavern riding is not my style. I would like to see the whole country from the back of a motorcycle. I also get just as much of a thrill from customizing my bikes. Being creative to make them something special for myself and for others to admire. I guess most of the above would make me a minor adrenaline junkie, but not enough to constantly risk my life and limb (I have no desire to jump from a perfectly good flying airplane). My activities are pretty safe if all precautions are mostly observed. ------------------------ I also, during my earlier years, lusted for more money, power and status. Today none of that matters to me much, for in my life I've found that having true friends is much more important and if they are a true friend, those things don't matter much. But don't get me wrong, I still like the good life, but not enough to have to have the "best" of everything. Things don't make you happy, relationships and friend and memories are what make me happy. So now my quest is to gather more close and true friends. Friends that I can help make a difference with and who don't need me to be anything other than what I really am. Which is an easy going, loyal and devoted friend. Maybe I should just be a dog (man's best friend eh) but who would feed me. --------------------------- Although I am a practicing attorney, many years ago I limited my practice to simple estate planning - wills, trusts, business organizations, etc. If it smells of litigation and dealing with other attorneys, I'm out. I spent way too many years in that high stress world. Although it had its rewards, they did not out weigh the costs for me. It's good that others like to do that but count me out. Usually I don't even tell people that I am an attorney unless pinned down for an answer. My real passion for making a difference is being a life coach. I got the training for that a couple of years ago, but have not actually given up the other (law) totally to focus on that, although that is what I would like to do. Not enough resources to carry me for the year or two that it would take to build that as a practice. Maybe soon. For now I will just coach my friends when the feel the need. For now I live with my two mixed breed dogs, and great they are, and make the most of each day trying to keep the stress down to a low rumble. I may try writing again. Most of my success as an attorney came as a result of my writing skills rather than any great oratory. I am proud of my record in the appellate courts. Won all but a couple of those over a 20 year period. ----------------------- But for now, I'm just the old crippled bastard biker, waiting to get hip replacements so I can just be the bastardbiker part. You should also know I love humor and my style is a little on the edge and somewhat sarcastic. ----------------------- UPDATE ALERT: After suffering for months, waiting to get health insurance in place, I finally got hip implants for both hips. So the arthritic pain is gone and I will be completely recovered from the surgeries in another few weeks. So now I am no longer the crippled bastard biker. Just guy who is having fun and loving his life again. ----------------------- So I will be finishing the modification of my bike and back on the road again in a matter of weeks. Glad to have this new influx of energy and zest for living again. ================== It is possible that I will be starting a new business with my son; And BTW he is a new father and I am a grandfather for the first time.
