I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm pretty boring. I'm a transplanted southerner. I grew up in Alabama, went to Grissom and had a great time with the choir/theatre crowd there. I spent two years in culture shock while at Snead, but it wasn't all bad as I got to do lots of theatre and made some wonderful friends.Moving on to Montevallo, I realized that though I loved the stage, I wasn't particularly good at being on it, so after much confusion I gave in to what I always knew I was good at: reading and writing. Apparently, they give people degrees for that, though they aren't particularly valuable as I soon found out after graduation.Leaving Alabama behind I found myself unemployed and directionless in Atlanta. Luckily, I found Creme, and I learned more in my 3 1/2 years there about life, myself, and work than I did in all my 5 1/2 years in college.Pursuing a great opportunity I returned to school, and took my chance to flee the south by coming up here to Eastern Illinois. That indecisive thing kicked in again though, and as I near the completion of my Masters in Literary Studies and Creative Writing, I am about to set out to gain another degree, this time in Early Childhood education. Will it work? Will I finally grow up? Or will time push me over the edge into shriveled, unsuccessful obscurity? Stay tuned right here for the continuing saga of the wandering blob....

My Interests

Literarture, children's lit, flim and video stuffs, Harry Potter anything (I'm a Potterphile); faeries, faerie lore, folklore, fairy tales, SIMS 2!!!

I'd like to meet:

up with old friends, and maybe even find some new ones...This is pretty cool. It appears to be Tom Felton, of Draco Malfoy fame from the Harry Potter movies. I adore him, and if this is actually him it makes him even more adorable:

Music:

Howie Day, Jeff Buckley, Snow Patrol, Sufjan Stevens, Damien Rice, Tori Amos, and many, many more...

Movies:

Don't get me started...but to list a few of my all time favs: The 10th Kingdom (a mini series technically), Requiem for a Dream, Fight Club, LOTR, Star Wars, Virgin Suicides, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, any good superhero movie, good Adam Sandler movies, almost anything by Pixar, most Tim Burton films, and the list goes on...

Television:

Smallville; that's pretty much my main obsession on TV. HEROES! Coupling on BBC; Otherwise I like CSI, Adult Swim, Foster's, and I'm a CNN, E! and VH1 junkie, along with a healthy dose of Food Network, HGTV and the Travel Channel.

Books:

Harry Potter (duh), I'm a children's lit person, so I adore many classic books of that genre: Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Coraline by Neil Gaiman; also love His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman; Jane Austen anything, Charles De Lint, Christopher Pike along with other, more boring acedemic stuffs...

Heroes:

I have a speical place for heroes in general in my mind; they are great; our modern culture thrives on them, as proven by their inclusion in this most basic of all lists. Personally, Captain Razberry is the one closest to me, but there are many others worthy of inclusion, both super and familiar.

My Blog
